Dio con tutta la sua imponenza prosegue la creazione del mondo e, voltate le terga a chi dal basso lo osserva, clero compreso, sorvola il mondo dando forma alle piante.
Ardita irriverenza o stratagemma pittorico? Forse non lo saprete mai.
Insomma, Dio dopo aver creato il sole e la luna accompagnato da quattro angeli, si gira di spalle proseguendo il suo lavoro e inizia ad aggiungere a quanto fino al momento messo a punto erbe, arbusti e ogni altro tipo di vegetazione.
Quello che è certo è che non era abituale mostrare Dio di schiena con una veste che lo fascia talmente tanto sui fianchi da mostrare senza equivoci le forme delle chiappe sotto la veste. Non era nemmeno consuetudine far vedere le piante dei piedi del Creatore.
Il riquadro intero mostra non solo la Creazione delle piante ma una scena precedente, ovvero la Creazione degli astri che di fatto costituiscono la terza e la quarta giornata della Genesi.
Per trasporre i cartoni sull’intonaco ancora fresco, in questo caso specifico, adoperai la tecnica dell’incisione. Sicuramente meno precisa e dettagliata dello spolvero ma molto più rapida.

God with all his grandeur continues the creation of the world and, turning away from those who observe him from below, including the clergy, flies over the world giving shape to plants.

In short, after having created the sun and the moon accompanied by four angels, God turns his back to continue his work and begins to add herbs, shrubs and any other type of vegetation to what has been developed up to now.
What is certain is that it was not usual to show God from behind with a garment that wraps him so much on the hips as to unequivocally show the shapes of the buttocks under the garment. Nor was it customary to show the soles of the Creator’s feet.
The entire panel shows not only the Creation of the plants but a previous scene, namely the Creation of the stars which in fact constitute the third and fourth day of Genesis.
To transpose the cartoons onto the still fresh plaster, in this specific case, I used the engraving technique. Definitely less precise and detailed than dusting but much faster.
