I Bronzi di San Casciano verranno esposti presto in una grande mostra allestita presso le Scuderie del Quirinale.

Questo è quanto ha preannunciato l’attuale ministro della cultura Sangiuliano, ospitato nel salotto culturale “Quante Storie” di Giorgio Zanchini che va in onda dal lunedì al venerdì su Rai Tre.

Al momento le 24 sculture in bronzo etrusche e romane ritrovate a San Casciano dei Bagni ma anche le monete e gli altri preziosi reperti sono in fase di studio e sottoposti a interventi di restauro.

Le opere databili fra il II secolo a.C. e il I secolo d.C., probabilmente già dai primi di maggio secondo quanto sostenuto dal ministro, verranno esposte presso le Scuderie del Quirinale a Roma. Mentre il ministero sta acquisendo un edificio per esporre permanentemente i bronzi, si sta pensando di esporli in diverse parti d’Italia un po’ come fu fatto per i Bronzi di Riace dopo il loro restauro che ebbe luogo a Firenze.

“Il ministero sta acquisendo un edificio a San Casciano dove verrà realizzato un museo per questi bronzi. Ma intanto li farei viaggiare: dopo il Quirinale li si potrebbe portate in mostra nella mia Napoli, al museo Archeologico, poi a Milano e a Venezia e infine allocarli nel luogo definitivo”.

Le 24 sculture che per 2300 sono rimaste protette dal fango e dall’acqua bollente nelle vasche di acqua termale raffigurano divinità, imperatori, matrone e fanciulli. Fanno parte di un incredibile deposito votivo sia per quantità che per ricchezza. Sono state rinvenute assieme a migliaia di monete, ex voto e un gran numero di iscrizioni in etrusco e in latino.

The Bronzes of San Casciano on display at the Scuderie del Quirinale

The Bronzes of San Casciano will be exhibited in a large exhibition set up at the Scuderie del Quirinale.

This is what the current minister of culture Sangiuliano announced, hosted in Giorgio Zanchini’s “Quante Storie” cultural lounge which is broadcast from Monday to Friday on Rai Tre.

At the moment the 24 Etruscan and Roman bronze sculptures found in San Casciano dei Bagni but also the coins and other precious finds are being studied and undergoing restoration.

The works datable between the 2nd century B.C. and the 1st century AD, probably as early as early May according to what the minister maintained, will be exhibited at the Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome. While the ministry is acquiring a building to permanently exhibit the bronzes, there are plans to exhibit them in different parts of Italy a bit like the Riace Bronzes were done after their restoration which took place in Florence.

“The ministry is acquiring a building in San Casciano where a museum will be built for these bronzes. But in the meantime I would make them travel: after the Quirinale they could be exhibited in my Naples, at the Archaeological museum, then in Milan and Venice and finally allocate them to their definitive location”.

The 24 sculptures that for 2300 have remained protected by the mud and boiling water in the pools of thermal water depict divinities, emperors, matrons and children. They are part of an incredible votive deposit both in terms of quantity and richness. They were found together with thousands of coins, votive offerings and a large number of inscriptions in Etruscan and Latin.
