Carrara, marmo e scultura sono da sempre tre termini strettamente collegati fra di loro. L’arte della scultura in città ha antiche radici e gli scultori di Carrara o che hanno insegnato o studiato nella prestigiosa Accademia di Belle Arti sono davvero tanti.

Il 24 giugno aprirà al pubblico a Palazzo Cucchiari la nuova mostra dal titolo “Novecento a Carrara. Avventure artistiche tra le due guerre”, a cura di Massimo Bertozzi, che proseguirà fino al prossimo 29 ottobre.

Saranno oltre 120 le opere esposte fra sculture in marmo e bronzo, modelli in gesso o terracotta ma anche disegni e dipinti.

Il percorso espositivo sarà incentrato sui linguaggi artistici figurativi carrarini nella prima metà del Novecento: dal Liberty al Novecentismo e all’astrattismo e dal verismo al poetico naturalismo e alla frammentazione dello spazio.

Per l’occasione arriveranno in città opere di protagonisti del Novecento fra i quali Libero Andreott, Leonardo Bistolfi, Carlo Carrà, Domenico e Resita Cucchiari, Arturo Dazzi , Carlo Fontana, Moses Levy, Arturo Martini, RAM e Thayhat, Gino Severini, Carlo Sergio Signori, Mario Sironi, Sergio Vatteroni, Lorenzo Viani e molti altri.

Oltre che da collezioni private, le opere provengono da importanti istutuzioni museali quali le Gallerie degli Uffizi di Firenze, il Mart di Rovereto, dal Museo del Novecento di Milano, dalla Gam di Roma e dall’Accademia Nazionale di San Luca a Roma.

In quegli anni i giovani che studiano all’Accademia di Belle Arti trovano facilmente la possibilità di completare la propria formazione frequentando i laboratori, nei quali è possibile perfezionare il mestiere e nello stesso tempo assistere alla nascita delle sculture ma anche conoscere gli artisti e vedere al lavoro gli artigiani.

Novecento in Carrara: the new exhibition

Carrara, marble and sculpture have always been three closely related terms. The art of sculpture in the city has ancient roots and there are so many sculptors from Carrara or who have taught or studied at the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts

On 24 June the new exhibition entitled “Novecento a Carrara. Artistic adventures between the two wars”, curated by Massimo Bertozzi, which will continue until 29 October.

In addition to private collections, the works come from important museum institutions such as the Uffizi Galleries in Florence, the Mart in Rovereto, the Museo del Novecento in Milan, the Gam in Rome and the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca in Rome.
