Il Museo Gypsoteca Antonio Canova di Possagno si sta preparando ad accogliere una grande mostra dedicata ai sublimi scatti di Luigi Spina.

Dal 20 aprile al 29 settembre il museo ospiterà l’esposizione nata dal progetto fotografico “Canova Quattro Tempi” curato dal fotografo Spina.

Il racconto, frutto di quattro campagne fotografiche realizzate anno dopo anno, ha avuto inizio nel 2019 e ha permesso di creare altrettante pubblicazioni edite da Five Continents accompagnate da testi di Vittorio Sgarbi.

Per la mostra, il celebre fotografo Luigi Spina, ha selezionato 32 fotografie in bianco e nero di grande formato, fra quelle che ha ritenuto maggiormente rappresentative dei temi amorosi, mitologici, eroici presenti che si trovano nella Gypsotheca di Possagno.

Gli scatti dialogheranno direttamente con le opere di Canova esposte nell’Ala Gemin della Gypsotheca. Le foto proposte sono in grado di catturare l’atto creativo di Canova ovvero il momento in cui l’idea diviene concreta nel modello in gesso.

Dalle foto di Spina si vedono i chiodi di piombo sui gessi adoperati dall’artista per trasporre in marmo l’opera, chiamati punti di repere.

“Il mio proposito è di rivendicare la contemporaneità del classico, il suo essere trasversale in ogni epoca”, afferma Spina. Come dargli torto?

Moira Mascotto, direttrice del Museo Canova, precisa che si tratta di una prima collaborazione che aprirà le strada per altri importanti progetti.

“Queste opere entrano a far parte del patrimonio del Museo di Possagno con l’ambizione, una volta conclusa la mostra, di dar vita a nuovi progetti espositivi con importanti istituzioni museali nazionali e internazionali con i quali siamo già in dialogo. Il progetto diverrà così messaggero del Museo e del genio canoviano e, al contempo, farà nascere nuove virtuose collaborazioni”. – Moira Mascotto-

Luigi Spina è nato nel 1966 a Santa Maria Capua Vetere e alla base del suo processo creativo c’è l’utilizzo del
bianco e nero mentre il suo filo conduttore è la ricerca della bellezza, fugace e temporanea.

Canova Museum in Possagno: masterpiece photos by Luigi Spina on display

The Antonio Canova Gypsoteca Museum in Possagno is preparing to welcome a major exhibition dedicated to the sublime shots of Luigi Spina.

From 20 April to 29 September the museum will host the exhibition born from the photographic project “Canova Quattro Tempi” curated by the photographer Spina.

The story, the result of four photographic campaigns created year after year, began in 2019 and made it possible to create as many publications published by Five Continents accompanied by texts by Vittorio Sgarbi.

For the exhibition, the famous photographer Luigi Spina selected 32 large format black and white photographs, among those that he considered most representative of the love, mythological and heroic themes found in the Gypsotheca of Possagno.

The shots will dialogue directly with Canova’s works exhibited in the Gemin Wing of the Gypsotheca. The photos proposed are able to capture Canova’s creative act or the moment in which the idea becomes concrete in the plaster model.

From Spina’s photos you can see the lead nails on the plaster casts used by the artist to transpose the work into marble, called landmarks.

“My purpose is to reclaim the contemporaneity of the classic, its transversal nature in every era,” states Spina. How can you blame him?

Moira Mascotto, director of the Canova Museum, specifies that this is a first collaboration that will pave the way for other important projects.

“These works become part of the heritage of the Possagno Museum with the ambition, once the exhibition is concluded, to give life to new exhibition projects with important national and international museum institutions with which we are already in dialogue. The project will thus become a messenger of the Museum and of Canova’s genius and, at the same time, will give rise to new virtuous collaborations”. – Moira Mascotto-
