Lo sguardo del viandante: la mostra fotografica di Baldini alla Libreria Brunelleschi dell’Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore
Inaugura domani venerdì 21 giugno la mostra fotografica ‘Lucia Baldini. Lo sguardo del viandante’ curata da Vincenzo Circosta e Giuseppe Giari, allestita nella Libreria Brunelleschi dell’Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore.
La fotografa Lucia Baldini che da anni è impegnata in una ricerca sull’onirico, si confronta con i monumenti della Cattedrale di Firenze, offrendo scatti poetici. In mostra è presente un’accurata selezione di tredici immagini, in bianco e nero, parte di un lavoro molto più ampio.
“Le immagini di Lucia Baldini – spiega Antonio Natali – pur veridiche, assumono sembianze metafisiche. Si mostrano alla stregua di visioni d’un mondo che vorremmo, e che sembra perduto. Come in un sogno, donne e uomini sostano o camminano solitari dentro le architetture antiche e nobili che compongono il patrimonio aulico dell’Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore. […] Sono figure che si muovono all’interno delle invenzioni d’artefici grandi o si fermano al centro di pavimenti istoriati con astrazioni cólte, ritrovando in quell’appartato tragitto la peculiarità della loro anima insieme alla libertà del pensiero, finalmente affrancato dai condizionamenti che uniformano e livellano; mentre lì, a due passi da loro, la gente, che si è supinamente sottomessa ai moniti del mercato, s’affolla senza nemmeno più vedere, affidando a elettroniche memorie esterne quello che un tempo il cuore sapeva a lungo serbare. […] Unicamente chi, nel frastuono d’un ingorgo caotico e scriteriato, sia capace d’ascoltare la voce delle proprie corde personali, avvertirà di quelle opere la poesia sottesa”.
“Firenze, la Cattedrale e i suoi monumenti – afferma Vincenzo Circosta – meta imprescindibile dei viandanti di un tempo e, ormai, vittima del turismo di massa di oggi. In questo contesto di difficile fruibilità Lucia Baldini tramite le sue fotografie riesce a fare, attraverso l’obiettivo, uno straordinario lavoro di astrazione. In una sorta di coacervo coatto di individui il singolo riesce ad isolarsi dalla massa rendendosi persona. Una sorta di solitudine passeggera che lo fa dialogare con i monumenti. Sospeso in questa sorta di non solitudine diventa di nuovo uomo e non folla, libero di leggere ed interpretare in maniera intima e personale l’opera d’arte che gli sta davanti”.
“Nel cuore della Firenze brulicante -dichiara Giuseppe Giari – lo spazio dedicato alle mostre della Libreria Brunelleschi si propone come un invito gentile a rallentare, a rubare un po’ di tempo al tempo, a scoprire una zona dedicata alla visione, alla riflessione, all’arte. Giunti ormai al terzo appuntamento, in un ambiente che l’Opera di S. Maria del Fiore ha voluto ritagliare e cucire su misura per piccole esposizioni tematiche, la grande parete si offre in maniera discreta a chi voglia dedicarle attenzione. In piena sintonia con questa vocazione, il lavoro di Lucia Baldini che qui esponiamo, nato da un felice incontro e pensato per questi spazi, rispecchia perfettamente lo spirito di questo luogo”.

The photographic exhibition ‘Lucia Baldini.’ opens tomorrow, Friday 21 June. The wayfarer’s gaze’ curated by Vincenzo Circosta and Giuseppe Giari, set up in the Brunelleschi Library of the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore.
The photographer Lucia Baldini, who has been engaged in research on the dream for years, compares herself with the monuments of the Cathedral of Florence, offering poetic shots. On display there is a careful selection of thirteen images, in black and white, part of a much larger work.
“Lucia Baldini’s images – explains Antonio Natali – although truthful, take on a metaphysical appearance. They show themselves as visions of a world that we would like, and which seems lost. As in a dream, women and men pause or walk alone inside the ancient and noble architecture that makes up the courtly heritage of the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore. […] They are figures that move inside the inventions of great artists or stop at the center of floors decorated with cultured abstractions, finding in that secluded journey the peculiarity of their soul together with the freedom of thought, finally freed from conditioning which uniform and level; while there, a stone’s throw from them, the people, who have submissively submitted to the warnings of the market, crowd together without even seeing anymore, entrusting to external electronic memories what the heart once knew how to keep for a long time. […] Only those who, in the din of a chaotic and thoughtless traffic jam, are capable of listening to the voice of their own personal chords, will perceive the underlying poetry of those works”.
“Florence, the Cathedral and its monuments – states Vincenzo Circosta – an essential destination for travelers of the past and, now, a victim of today’s mass tourism. In this context of difficult usability, Lucia Baldini manages to do, through the lens, an extraordinary work of abstraction through her photographs. In a sort of forced gathering of individuals the individual manages to isolate himself from the mass by becoming a person. A sort of fleeting solitude that makes him dialogue with the monuments. Suspended in this sort of non-solitude he becomes a man again and not a crowd, free to read and interpret the work of art in front of him in an intimate and personal way.”
