Ferrara: dopo 80 anni torna a casa l’enorme tela del Seicento di Avanzi
Dopo ottant’anni ha fatto ritorno nella Certosa di San Cristoforo a Ferrara la grande tela dipinta da Giuseppe Avanzi che ha per tema centrale l’apparizione della Beata Vergine e di san Pietro ai compagni di San Brunone.
E’ un capolavoro assoluto della pittura seicentesca ferrarese con i suoi 9,30 metri di lunghezza per 4,25 di altezza con una superficie complessiva di 36 metri quadrati.
La tela realizzata da Avanzi nel 1695, fu rimossa dalla collocazione originaria dopo i terribili bombardamenti anglo-americani del 28 gennaio del 1944 ma prima di essere restituita alla città, ha dovuto attendere oltre 50 anni per il completamento del restauro.
Ieri 5 settembre finalmente è stata trasportata presso la Certosa scortata dalla polizia, dopo essere stata accuratamente avvolta in differenti strati protettivi di materiale apposito. Nei prossimi giorni verrà rimontata sul telaio che permetterà di essere posizionata di nuovo sulla parete sinistra del presbiterio, laddove era collocata in origine.
Il termine dei lavori di collocazione sarà celebrato venerdì 15 settembre alle 12, con una presentazione aperta alla cittadinanza.
Il complesso restauro è stato curato dal Laboratorio Nonfarmale e reso possibile mediante un progetto del Comune di Ferrara, in collaborazione e con il contributo della Regione Emilia-Romagna, sotto la sorveglianza della Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio.
L’investimento complessivo è stato di 97.500 euro: 60mila erogati della Regione e 37.500 del Comune.
Il servizio Musei d’Arte organizza inoltre una serie di visite guidate gratuite, condotte dal Conservatore Romeo Pio Cristofori e dal restauratore Giovanni Giannelli, che si terranno alle 17 nei giorni 8, 9, 10, 16, 17, 22, 23 e 24 settembre. La prenotazione è obbligatoria e si può effettuare contattando l’Ufficio Informazioni e Prenotazioni Ferrara Mostre e Musei (0532-244949) dal lunedì al venerdì dalle 9:00 alle 13:00 e il martedì e il giovedì anche in orario pomeridiano, dalle 15 alle 17.
Il 21 settembre invece ci sarà il convegno “Le tele dell’Avanzi per San Cristoforo alla Certosa. Storia di un ritorno”.

Ferrara: after 80 years the huge seventeenth-century canvas by Avanzi returns home
Yesterday 5 September, after eighty years, the large canvas painted by Giuseppe Avanzi returned to the Certosa di San Cristoforo in Ferrara, with the central theme of the apparition of the Blessed Virgin and Saint Peter to the companions of Saint Bruno.
It is an absolute masterpiece of seventeenth-century Ferrarese painting with its 9.30 meters in length by 4.25 in height with a total area of 36 square meters. The canvas created by Avanzi in 1695 was removed from its original location after the terrible Anglo-American bombings of January 28, 1944 but before being returned to the city, it had to wait over 50 years for the restoration to be completed.
Yesterday it was finally transported to the Certosa escorted by the police, after having been carefully wrapped in different protective layers of special material. In the coming days it will be reassembled on the frame which will allow it to be positioned again on the left wall of the presbytery, where it was originally located.
The end of the placement works will be celebrated on Friday 15 September at 12, with a presentation open to the citizens.
The complex restoration was carried out by the Nonfarmale Laboratory and made possible through a project by the Municipality of Ferrara, in collaboration and with the contribution of the Emilia-Romagna Region, under the supervision of the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape.
The total investment was 97,500 euros: 60,000 from the Region and 37,500 from the Municipality.
The Art Museums service also organizes a series of free guided tours, led by the conservator Romeo Pio Cristofori and the restorer Giovanni Giannelli, which will be held at 5 pm on 8, 9, 10, 16, 17, 22, 23 and 24 September .
