Io, Vittoria Colonna e gli spirituali: la recensione
Eccomi di nuovo qua a parlarvi di libri interessanti. Ho appena concluso di leggere le ultime pagine di “Michelangelo, Vittoria Colonna e gli spirituali” scritto da Maria Forcellino e voglio parlarvene un po’. È un libro sicuramente intenso e molto interessante che approfondisce e indaga sui rapporti di profonda intesa che avevo stretto con Vittoria Colonna ma anche con il cardinale Reginald Pole, Morone e un nutrito gruppo dei cosiddetti spirituali.
Al centro della scena c’è il libro “Il Beneficio di Cristo” scritto da Benedetto da Mantova che segnò a dir poco un’epoca. Un libro ritenuto pericoloso dalla Chiesa Cattolica poiché considerato il testo basilare della Riforma italiana. Gli spirituali costituivano la terza via a metà fra la riforma luterana e la Chiesa di Roma. Come sta scritto nel testo dell’Eresia del Grande Libro di Prosperi “quello di una religione che aveva il centro della memoria di un dono straordinario, capace di risarcire i debiti e di rendere agli uomini la giustizia di cui erano in cerca. Il modello simbolico più alto del dono gratuito era quello del Beneficio di Cristo, cioè della giustizia resa agli esseri umani redenti dai loro debiti grazie a Cristo”.
Nel libro l’autrice cerca di ricostruire il rapporto che avevo con gli spirituali non solo attraverso i documenti scritti ma anche mediante le opere che realizzai in quel periodo come i disegni e i dipinti delle Crocifissioni e delle Pietà e la scultura di papa Giulio II oramai vinto dal destino.
“Michelangelo, Vittoria Colonna e gli spirituali” di Maria Forcellino è un libro sicuramente valido, ben documentato e aiuta a capire meglio che tipo di relazioni avessi con alcuni personaggi di primaria importanza legati alla Riforma e agli Spirituali. Molto interessante anche la parte in cui vengono messe in evidenza le commissioni legate al Venusti che fra l’altro tenevo in grande considerazione.
Consiglio questo libro ha chi già conosce abbastanza la vita mia e vuole approfondire in maniera importante l’amicizia con Vittoria Colonna e i rapporti che intrattenevo col gruppo degli Spirituali. Vi avverto che richiede una buona concentrazione per evitare di perdersi passaggi importanti che poi non consentono di capire bene le pagine che seguono. Un ottimo libro, intenso e ricco di dettagli importanti.

Here I am again talking to you about interesting books. I have just finished reading the last pages of “Michelangelo, Vittoria Colonna and the Spirituals” written by Maria Forcellino and I want to tell you a little about it. It is certainly an intense and very interesting book that explores and investigates the relationships of deep understanding that I had formed with Vittoria Colonna but also with Cardinal Reginald Pole, Morone and a large group of so-called spirituals.
At the center of the scene is the book “The Benefit of Christ” written by Benedetto da Mantova which marked an era to say the least. A book considered dangerous by the Catholic Church because it is considered the basic text of the Italian Reformation. Spirituals constituted the third way halfway between the Lutheran reform and the Church of Rome. As it is written in the text of the Heresy of the Great Book of Prosperi “that of a religion that had the center of the memory of an extraordinary gift, able to compensate the debts and to render to men the justice of which they were in search. The highest symbolic model of the free gift was that of the Benefit of Christ, that is, of the justice rendered to human beings redeemed by their debts thanks to Christ ”.
In the book the author tries to reconstruct the relationship I had with the spirituals not only through written documents but also through the works that I made in that period such as the drawings and paintings of the Crucifixions and the Pietàs and the sculpture of Pope Julius II now won from fate.
“Michelangelo, Vittoria Colonna and the Spirituals” by Maria Forcellino is certainly a valid, well documented book that helps to better understand what kind of relationships I had with some characters of primary importance related to the Reformation and the Spirituals. Also very interesting is the part where the commissions related to Venusti are highlighted, which I also held in high regard.
I recommend this book to those who already know enough about my life and want to deepen their friendship with Vittoria Colonna and the relationships I had with the Spirituals group. I warn you that it requires good concentration to avoid missing important passages that do not allow you to understand the following pages well. An excellent book, intense and full of important details.
