Il Natale nei dipinti
Anche quest’anno siamo arrivati alla vigilia di Natale. Per l’occasione voglio proporvi alcuni dipinti legati direttamente alla Natività: alcuni sono molto noti, altri meno. Buona visione dunque e per gli auguri natalizi vi rimando al termine del post in questione
Lorenzo Lotto dipinse su tela a olio un’interessante Adorazione dei Pastori nel 1530. Tutta la scena si svolge all’interno di un’umile capanna.
Due pastori accompagnati da altrettanti angeli donano al Bambino un agnello quasi a preannunciare il momento del suo sacrificio che avverrà in futuro. La Madonna osserva suo Figlio e San Giuseppe sulla sinistra rimane un po’ in disparte mentre alle spalle si intravedono le orecchie dell’asinello.
Altra opera molto nota dedicata alla Natività è quello di Rubens: un dipinto a olio su tela risalente al 1608. Un dipinto imponente che ha un’altezza di tre metri per una larghezza di quasi due (192 cm) conservata presso la Pinacoteca civica di Fermo.
Fu commissionata da padre Flaminio Ricci e Rubens la realizzò in soli tre mesi per la chiesa di San Filippo Neri di Fermo.
A seguire vi propongo la Natività di Matthias Stomer, un pittore olandese che rimase a lungo in Sicilia influenzando non poco l’arte seicentesca dell’isola.
Quest’opera dipinta nel 1640 circa, può essere ammirata nella chiesa dei Cappuccini a Monreale.
Nello stesso anno ma in altro luogo, Bernardo Cavallino dipinse l’Adorazione dei Pastori.
Un lume che pare di candela rischiara la Madonna che il Bambino appena nato creando un cono di luce. A fare da cornice alla Sacra Famiglia ci sono i pastori ovvero gli uomini di buona volontà che per primi accorsero alla capanna con le greggi per vedere il Redentore.
Nella cittadina di Terlizzi, in provincia di Bari, c’è il dipinto dell’Adorazione dei Pastori realizzato nel 1735 da Corrado Giaquinto.
Entrate nella chiesa dell’Immacolata per vederlo con i vostri occhi. Esiste una versione molto simile a questa che vi propongo, dipinta dallo stesso autore e che si trova ad Andria.
Per concludere questa carrellata di dipinti a tema natalizio, vi propongo questa delicata e nota tela di William Adolphe Bourgerau realizzata nella seconda metà dell’Ottocento.
Il dipinto di William-Adolphe Bouguereau “Il canto degli Angeli” fu presentato per la prima volta al Salone di Parigi nel 1881 e fu poi acquistato dal Forest Lawn Museum nel 1940.

A light that looks like a candle illuminates the Madonna and the newborn Child, creating a cone of light. To frame the Holy Family are the shepherds or men of good will who were the first to rush to the hut with their flocks to see the Redeemer.
