Le immagini di Notre Dame avvolta dalle fiamme in pochi minuti hanno fatto il giro del mondo. Assistere impotenti a quella devastazione non è stato facile per nessuno e oggi tocca fare i conti con i danni. La Settimana Santa quest’anno è iniziata nel modo più nefasto anche se grazie al cielo non si contanto feriti o morti.

Torna alla mente quel fatidico 11 settembre sebbene l’origine dell’incendio pare non sia dolosa al momento. 400 pompieri hanno lavorato tutta la notte con autogru e pompe per cercare di salvare il salvabile. Alle quattro di stanotte, il comandante generale dei vigili del fuoco ha riferito che l’incendio era al momento sotto completo controllo e che rimanevano fiamme residuali da domare.

Quali opere si saranno salvate? “Bisognava tirarli fuori, in mezzo al fumo, tra pezzi di materiale incandescente che cadevano e proteggerli da tutto questo” così ha riferito il generale Jean-Claude Gallet.

All’interno di Notre Dame ci sono anche due dipinti realizzati da pittori italiani: il San Giobbe di Guido Reni e il San Bernardino da Siena che salva la città di Carpi di Ludovico Caracci.

Con il calore che s’è sviluppato le vetrate probabilmente sarano scoppiate e in quali condizioni saranno i portali? Il coro ligneo con la Fuga in Egitto e l’Apparizione di Gesù agli Apostoli… sarà rimasto qualcosa? Secondo quanto riferito dall’emittente BfmTV tutte le opere d’arte all’interno di Notre Dame e il Tesoro sono stati portati in salvo e trasferiti temporaneamente all”Hotel de Ville dove ha sede il comune cittadino. Entro mercoledì verranno trasferite al Museo del Louvre le reliquie più preziose ovvero la Sacra Corona di Spine che secondo la tradizione catolica fu quella che i soldati posero sul capo di Cristo prima della Crocifissione, un chiodo e un pezzo della Croce. Anche la tunica di San Luigi è stata tratta in salva mentre l’organo è stato danneggiato in maniera grave.

Dei dipinti ancora non è dato sapere ma sicuramente saranno stati danneggiati dal calore prima e dall’acqua poi.

La struttura portante ha retto ma la sua stabilità non è data per certa. Da lì sarà necessario ripartire per la ricostruzione di una delle chiese più belle e visitate del mondo. E’ difficile quasi credere sia successo per davvero. Non è possibile non pensare a quelle immagini di Notre Dame, avvolta per ore nelle fiamme.

Notre Dame devoured by flames

The images of Notre Dame wrapped in flames in a few minutes have traveled around the world. Watching helplessly at that devastation was not easy for anyone and today it’s up to dealing with damage. This year, Holy Week began in the most nefarious way, although thankfully, no wounded or dead.

That fateful September 11 comes back to mind although the origin of the fire does not appear to be malicious at the moment. 400 firefighters worked all night with crane trucks and pumps to try to save what could be saved. At four o’clock tonight, the general commander of the fire brigade reported that the fire was now under complete control and that residual flames remained to be tamed.

Which works will be saved? “We had to take them out, in the middle of the smoke, between pieces of incandescent material that fell and protect them from all this”, said General Jean-Claude Gallet.

Inside Notre Dame there are also two paintings by Italian painters: San Giobbe by Guido Reni and San Bernardino da Siena which saves the city of Carpi by Ludovico Caracci.

Even the robe of St. Louis was rescued while the organ was seriously damaged.

Of the paintings it is still not known but surely they will have been damaged by the heat before and then by the water.

The supporting structure has held up but its stability is not given for certain. From there it will be necessary to leave for the reconstruction of one of the most beautiful and visited churches in the world. It is hard to believe it really happened. It is impossible not to think of those images of Notre Dame, wrapped for hours in the flames.
