A soli 15 mesi di distanza del rogo che ha devastato la cattedrale di Notre Dame a Parigi e successivamente Saint Sulpice sempre a Parigi, le fiamme stanno divorando la cattedrale di Nantes dedicata a Saint Pierre et Saint Paul.

Secondo quanto riferito dal dipartimento dei vigili del fuoco Loire Atlantique le fiamme ancora non sono sotto controllo e si stanno sviluppando sempre di più. Nel comunicato emanato dai pompieri, viene riferito che sono stati allertati alle 7 e 40 di questo mattino.

Vedere le immagini che stanno circolando della chiesa in fiamme e del fumo nero che si innalza nel cielo riporta inevitabilmente col pensiero al rogo di Notre Dame.

Pensate che per completare la cattedrale ci sono voluti 475 anni di lavori: l’edificazione fu avviata nel 1434 dal duca Giovanni V e ci vollero secoli prima di vederla così come appare oggi ai fedeli e ai visitatori.

Nel corso dei secoli già ha subito importanti danni come quelli provocati dai bombardamenti del 1944 e dall’incendio del 1972 che interessò in modo particolare il tetto.
