Il sopralluogo di Paola Rosa per il restauro della mia Colonna a Seravezza
La restauratrice Paola Rosa che, come sapete ha messo mano durante la sua carriera al restauro di opere mie come la Pietà Bandini dell’Opera del Duomo, il Tondo Pitti e il David Apollo del Bargello, nella mattinata di ieri è venuta a fare il sopralluogo della testa di colonna che feci estrarre nelle cave di Trambiserra tutt’oggi presente a Seravezza.
L’ha valutata con attenzione per poter poi stendere un piano di intervento dettagliato che tenga in conto di tutte le sue caratteristiche.
Le patine biologiche che si sono formate durante gli anni, incentivate anche da un micro clima favorevole e dalla presenza dei lecci, verranno rimosse accuratamente con sistemi non invasivi che consentiranno di tornare a vedere il colore del marmo sottostante.
Ora non pensate però a uno sbiancamento eccessivo che tolga parte della storia alla colonna caduta rovinosamente nel greto del fiume Serra a causa di un’ulivella che si ruppe. Ha secoli di storia alle spalle che devono essere rispettati e continuati a narrare attraverso le sue peculiarità anche visive.
La colonna presenta anche delle lacune che a detta della restauratrice Rosa sono perfettamente compatibili con colpi di arma da fuoco. Durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale la Villa Bernard Sancholle Henraux fu sequestrata dalle SS e divenne il loro quartier generale. Non solo.
All’interno del palazzo erano presenti opere d’arte di gran pregio come tele di Fattori che furono letteralmente fatte sparire e chissà dove si trovino oggi.
Il restauro condotto da Rosa prevederà anche uno scalzamento della colonna per impedire che l’umidità del terreno possa danneggiarla ulteriormente. Le micro fratture presenti sul marmo saranno prima mappate e poi stuccate con lo scopo di impedire all’umidità di penetrare all’interno causando danni maggiori.
L’imprenditore di Seravezza Nino Verona dell’azienda VNE, visto l’importanza di quel frammento di colonna come testimonianza storica, ha deciso farla restaurare e di metterla sotto protezione creando una teca appositamente studiata dalla medesima ditta.

The head of the column that I had extracted in Seravezza for the San Lorenzo in Florence: updates on its restoration
The restorer Paola Rosa who, as you know, has worked during her career on the restoration of my works such as the Pietà Bandini of the Opera del Duomo, the Tondo Pitti and the David Apollo of the Bargello, came yesterday morning to carry out the inspection of the column head that I had extracted in the Trambiserra quarries which is still present in Seravezza today.
She carefully evaluated it in order to then draw up a detailed intervention plan that takes into account all its characteristics.
The biological patinas that have formed over the years, also encouraged by a favorable micro climate and the presence of holm oaks, will be carefully removed with non-invasive systems that will allow the color of the underlying marble to be seen again.
Now, however, don’t think about excessive bleaching that takes away part of the history of the column which fell disastrously into the bed of the Serra river due to a broken olive tree. It has centuries of history behind it which must be respected and continued to narrate through its visual peculiarities.
The column also has gaps which, according to the restorer Rosa, are perfectly compatible with gunshots. During the Second World War the Villa Bernard Sancholle Henraux was seized by the SS and became their headquarters. Not only.
Inside the palace there were works of art of great value such as paintings by Fattori which were literally made to disappear and who knows where they are today.
The restoration conducted by Rosa will also include the removal of the column to prevent the humidity of the soil from damaging it further. The micro fractures present in the marble will first be mapped and then filled with the aim of preventing humidity from penetrating inside causing greater damage.
The Seravezza entrepreneur Nino Verona of the VNE company, given the importance of that column fragment as historical evidence, decided to have it restored and put it under protection by creating a display case specially designed by the same company.
