Roma: ritrovata una testa antica in marmo
È stata appena rinvenuta una testa antica a Roma, probabilmente in marmo pario, nell’ambito dei lavori in corso a Piazza Augusto Imperatore, a cura della Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali
Questo è quanto ha annunciato il sindaco di Roma Gualtieri.
Al momento gli archeologi e i restauratori sono impegnati nella pulitura e nello studio di questa nuova opera appena riemersa dall’oblio.
Per adesso non è possibile dare un’identificazione a quella testa né tantomeno allo scultore che la realizzò. Seguiremo l’evoluzione di questo nuovo rinvenimento nei giorni a seguire.
Sembra sia stata scolpita adoperando marmo pario che abitualmente veniva estratto in Grecia e potrebbe essere una donna vista la delicatezza dei lineamenti e il modo in cui sono stati acconciati i capelli.
Certo è che Roma ha ancora molto da offrirci e continua a sbalordirci quotidianamente.

Rome: an ancient marble head has been found
An ancient head has just been found in Rome, as part of the ongoing works in Piazza Augusto Imperatore, by the Capitoline Superintendency for Cultural Heritage
This is what the mayor of Rome Gualtieri announced.
At the moment archaeologists and restorers are busy cleaning and studying this new work that has just resurfaced from oblivion.
For now it is not possible to give an identification to that head nor to the sculptor who made it. We will follow the evolution of this new discovery in the following days.
She seems to have been sculpted using Parian marble which was usually quarried in Greece and could be a woman given the delicacy of her features and the way her hair was styled.
What is certain is that Rome still has a lot to offer us and continues to amaze us on a daily basis.
