Dal 26 maggio 2023 Palazzo Bonaparte a Roma proporrà per la prima volta in Italia una mostra dedicata alla scultura iperrealista dal titolo “Sembra Vivo! Sculture iperrealiste dei più grandi artisti contemporanei”.

Personalmente non amo questo tipo di scultura. Comprendo il grande lavoro che c’è dietro, la maestria e tutto il resto ma non mi piace, non mi emoziona né riesce a coinvolgermi nel proprio racconto. Ciò nonostante ve ne parlo comunque: sono sicuro che fra i lettori ce ne saranno molti che non la pensano come me e avranno il piacere di visitarla.

Le opere proposte sono tutte di artisti contemporanei come Maurizio Cattelan, Ron Mueck, George Segal, Carole Feuerman e molti altri ancora.

Il percorso espositivo della mostra “Sembra vivo!” si snoderà fra le 43 mega-installazioni di alcuni dei più celebri artisti contemporanei iperrealisti.

Alcune delle sculture proposte sembrano reali e ci si aspetta che da un momento all’altro inizino a respirare e si muovano nello spazio. Fin nei minimi particolari i corpi vengono riprodotti fedelmente e pensate un po’, finanche i pori della pelle e i capelli vengono realizzati uno ad uno.

Simili a delle foto tridimensionali, queste opere confondono le idee.

Gli artisti esposti, 29 in tutto, sono i più noti protagonisti a livello internazionale come Maurizio Cattelan  con l’installazione Ghosts e Comedian ino a Ron Mueck che espone anche una gigantesca testa di uomo Dark Place, fino a George Segal, Carole Feuerman, Duane Hanson e molti altri ancora.

Le opere esposte che provengono da collezioni private e pubbliche di tutto il mondo, mettono a nudo lo stile iperrealista che ha iniziato a diffondersi fin dagli anni ‘70 in poi. Uno stile in continua evoluzione sempre alla ricerca di nuovi materiali per raggiungere livelli sempre più elevati della rappresentazione realistica della figura umana.

Come si legge dal comunicato stampa, Sembra vivo! è una mostra che, tra arte e filosofia, porta a una riflessione sul significato dell’essenza del visibile attraverso opere e figure anonime a grandezza naturale che riproducono la realtà in modo quasi maniacale, con grande attenzione per i dettagli più infinitesimali che creano un impatto quasi surreale, in cui l’osservatore è automaticamente portato ad interrogarsi sull’efficacia della mimesis e sulla veridicità dell’illusione.

La mostra è un progetto proposto da Arthemisia.

La mostra – ideata dall’Institut für Kulturaustausch, Germany, è curata da Maximilian Letze in collaborazione con Nicolas Ballario ed è prodotta e organizzata da Arthemisia, che ancora una volta – dopo il grande successo delle mostre dedicate a Jago e a Leandro Erlich, propone progetti nuovi e visionari sulla scienza dell’arte contemporanea in Italia.

It looks alive! The hyper-realistic sculptures in Rome

From 26 May 2023, Palazzo Bonaparte in Rome will offer for the first time in Italy an exhibition dedicated to hyper-realistic sculpture.

Personally I do not like this type of sculpture. I understand the great work behind it, the mastery and all the rest but I don’t like it, it doesn’t excite me nor does it manage to involve me in its story. Nonetheless, I tell you about it anyway: I’m sure there will be many readers who don’t think like me and will have the pleasure of visiting it.

The proposed works are all by contemporary artists such as Maurizio Cattelan, Ron Mueck, George Segal, Carole Feuerman and many others.

The exhibition itinerary of the exhibition “It seems alive!” it will wind through 43 mega-installations by some of the most famous contemporary hyper-realist artists.
Some of the proposed sculptures seem real and it is expected that at any moment they will begin to breathe and move in space. Down to the smallest detail, the bodies are faithfully reproduced and think about it, even the pores of the skin and the hair are created one by one.

Similar to three-dimensional photos, these works confuse ideas.

The exhibited artists, 29 in all, are the best-known international protagonists such as Maurizio Cattelan with the installation Ghosts and Comedian up to Ron Mueck who also exhibits a gigantic head of a Dark Place man, up to George Segal, Carole Feuerman, Duane Hanson and many more.

The exhibited works that come from private and public collections from all over the world lay bare the hyper-realistic style that began to spread since the 1970s onwards. A constantly evolving style always looking for new materials to reach ever higher levels of the realistic representation of the human figure.

As the press release reads, It looks alive! is an exhibition that, between art and philosophy, leads to a reflection on the meaning of the essence of the visible through anonymous life-size works and figures that reproduce reality in an almost maniacal way, with great attention to the most infinitesimal details that create an impact almost surreal, in which the observer is automatically led to wonder about the effectiveness of mimesis and the veracity of the illusion.

The exhibition – conceived by the Institut für Kulturaustausch, Germany, is curated by Maximilian Letze in collaboration with Nicolas Ballario and is produced and organized by Arthemisia, which once again – after the great success of the exhibitions dedicated to Jago and Leandro Erlich, proposes projects new and visionary on the science of contemporary art in Italy.
