Federico Barocci in mostra alla Galleria Nazionale delle Marche
“Federico Barocci, Urbino 1532-1612” sarà la mostra curata da Luigi Gallo e Anna Maria Ambrosini Massari che verrà inaugurata presso la Galleria nazionale delle Marche.
A partire dal 23 giugno 2024 la nuova esposizione allestita in occasione dell’anno di Pesaro Capitale della Cultura italiana 2024 aprirà i battenti al pubblico.
Federico Barocci fu un eccellente pittore, disegnatore e incisore rimanendo nella sua città natale, lontano dai centri culturali dell’epoca ben frequentati dai mecenati. Con non poca fatica e tenacia riuscì a farsi spazio sul mercato nella seconda metà del Cinquecento.
Nell’ultima fase della sua brillante carriera artistica, Barocci intuì i successivi sviluppi del caravaggismo, dando forma a pale d’altare in chiaroscuro le cui figure monumentali anticipano il linguaggio barocco.
La mostra racconterà ogni sfaccettatura della produzione artistica di Barocci e, come racconta il direttore Gallo, “Ci saranno ritratti e autoritratti che raccontano la Urbino ducale, poi una sala dedicata alle grandi macchine delle pale d’altare con le opere provenienti dalle chiese di Roma e la Deposizione di Perugia. Un’altra invece illustrerà il suo rapporto con la natura del Montefeltro e quindi il suo studio del paesaggio. Barocci è uno dei primi a praticare la tecnica dello studio dal vero”.
La grande esposizione dedicata all’artista di Urbino ospiterà 80 opere provenienti dai maggiori musei italiani e stranieri e proseguirà fino all’8 ottobre 2024.

Starting from 23 June 2024, the new exhibition set up to mark the year of Pesaro Capital of Italian Culture 2024 will open its doors to the public.
Federico Barocci was an excellent painter, designer and engraver, remaining in his hometown, far from the cultural centers of the time well frequented by patrons. With no small amount of effort and tenacity he managed to make room for himself on the market in the second half of the sixteenth century.
In the last phase of his brilliant artistic career, Barocci sensed the subsequent developments of Caravaggism, giving shape to chiaroscuro altarpieces whose monumental figures anticipate the baroque language.
The exhibition will tell every facet of Barocci’s artistic production and, as director Gallo says, “There will be portraits and self-portraits that tell the story of ducal Urbino, then a room dedicated to the large machines of the altarpieces with works from the churches of Rome and the Deposition of Perugia. Another instead will illustrate his relationship with the nature of Montefeltro and therefore his study of the landscape. Barocci is one of the first to practice the technique of studying from life.”
The large exhibition dedicated to the artist from Urbino will host 80 works from major Italian and foreign museums and will continue until 8 October 2024.
