Le Gallerie Nazionali di Arte Antica propongono ai visitatori un ricco programma di visite guidate dietro le quinte che includono i depositi e le sale del secondo piano di Palazzo Barberini, luoghi abitualmente non accessibili al pubblico.

A partire dal 13 aprile, ogni giovedì fino al 25 maggio 2023 compreso, sarà possibile scoprire nuovi spazi del Palazzo. Una bella occasione per vedere da vicino come il museo si prenda cura delle opere anche al di fuori del percorso espositivo, con approfondimenti dedicati alla conservazione, al restauro e alla gestione del patrimonio artistico.

Ogni visita è strutturata in due tempi.

La prima parte è dedicata ad approfondire elementi specifici delle opere e la gestione dei depositi delle Gallerie. Verrà poi presentato un focus sulle caratteristiche tecniche e di restauro e sull’originaria funzione degli ambienti in epoca seicentesca.

La seconda parte della visita prevede l’accesso guidato quadreria al secondo piano di Palazzo Barberini. E’ lì che abitualmente vengono conservate opere oggetto di studio per gli specialisti, all’interno di sale destinate abitualmente al laboratorio del museo per accademie e scuole di specializzazione, ma di solito chiuse al pubblico.

In quegli ambienti sono presenti ad esempio il busto in marmo di François Duquesnoy che rappresenta Il nano del duca di Créqui (1633 – 1634 ca.) e il grande dipinto L’Angelo custode (1656) di Pietro da Cortona.

La visita ai depositi è inclusa nel biglietto di accesso al museo e la prenotazione obbligatoria all’indirizzo gan-aar.servizieducativi@cultura.gov.it.       
Il ritrovo per chi prenota la visita è dinnanzi alla biglietteria, durata 2 ore (solo giovedì 20 aprile la visita sarà ridotta a 60 minuti e includerà il solo accesso ai depositi)

Behind the scenes of Palazzo Barberini

The National Galleries of Ancient Art offer visitors a rich program of behind-the-scenes guided tours that include the warehouses and rooms on the second floor of Palazzo Barberini, places usually not accessible to the public.

Starting from 13 April, every Thursday up to and including 25 May 2023, it will be possible to discover new spaces in the Palazzo. A great opportunity to see up close how the museum takes care of the works even outside the exhibition itinerary, with insights dedicated to the conservation, restoration and management of the artistic heritage.

Each visit is structured in two stages.

The first part is dedicated to deepening specific elements of the works and the management of the deposits of the Galleries. A focus will then be presented on the technical and restoration characteristics and on the original function of the rooms in the seventeenth century.

The second part of the visit includes guided access to the picture gallery on the second floor of Palazzo Barberini. It is there that works that are the object of study for specialists are usually kept, in rooms usually used as museum laboratories for academies and specialization schools, but usually closed to the public.

In those environments there are, for example, the marble bust by François Duquesnoy representing The Dwarf of the Duke of Créqui (1633 – 1634 ca.) and the large painting The Guardian Angel (1656) by Pietro da Cortona.

The visit to the depots is included in the museum access ticket and reservations are required at gan-aar.servizieducativi@cultura.gov.it.
The meeting point for those who book the visit is in front of the ticket office, lasting 2 hours (only on Thursday 20 April the visit will be reduced to 60 minutes and will only include access to the depots)
