18 febbraio: Musei Civici fiorentini gratis in onore dell’Elettrice Palatina
Il 18 febbraio del 1743, a distanza di 179 esatti dalla mia dipartita dal vostro mondo, anche l’ultima discendente della casata dei Medici passò a miglior vita.
Ben consapevole di essere l’ultima erede di un immenso patrimonio artistico e architettonico, fu lei che vincolò il patrimonio della famiglia al Granducato di Toscana. Illuminata e lungimirante ha reso una delle città più in vista del suo tempo, Firenze, una delle mete artistiche e turistiche più ambite di oggi.
Il grande merito della principessa Medici si concretizza nell’atto giuridico, noto come Patto di Famiglia, stipulato con Francesco Stefano di Lorena, grazie al quale l’ultima erede della dinastia vincola al Granducato di Toscana tutti i beni che facevano parte delle collezioni medicee: “…Gallerie, Quadri, Statue, Biblioteche, Gioje ed altre cose preziose […] a condizione espressa che di quello è per ornamento dello Stato, per utilità del Pubblico e per attirare la curiosità dei forestieri, e non ne sarà nulla trasportato e levato fuori dalla Capitale e dello Stato del Gran Ducato”.
In occasione della ricorrenza della morte dell’Elettrice Palatina, i Musei Civici di Firenze apriranno gratuitamente le porte al pubblico.

- Museo di Palazzo Vecchio, dalle ore 9 alle 17
- Complesso di Santa Maria Novella, dalle ore 9.00 alle 17.30
- Museo Novecento, dalle ore 11 alle 20
- Palazzo Medici Riccardi, dalle ore 9 alle 19

February 18: Free admission to the Florentine Civic Museums in honor of the Electress Palatine
On February 18, 1743, exactly 179 years after my departure from your world, the last descendant of the Medici family passed away.
Fully aware of being the last heir to an immense artistic and architectural heritage, it was she who bequeathed the family’s assets to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. Enlightened and farsighted, she made one of the most prominent cities of her time, Florence, one of the most sought-after artistic and tourist destinations today.
The great merit of the Medici princess is embodied in the legal act, known as the Family Pact, stipulated with Francis Stephen of Lorraine, thanks to which the last heir of the dynasty binds to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany all the assets that were part of the Medici collections: “… Galleries, Paintings, Statues, Libraries, Jewels and other precious things […] on the express condition that it is for the ornament of the State, for the utility of the Public and to attract the curiosity of foreigners, and nothing of it will be transported and removed outside the Capital and the State of the Grand Duchy”.
On the occasion of the anniversary of the death of the Electress Palatine, the Civic Museums of Florence will open their doors to the public free of charge.

Museo Novecento, from 11 am to 8 pm
Palazzo Medici Riccardi, from 9 am to 7 pm
