Torna la festa dei Doni agli Uffizi: il 31 gennaio le coppie di innamorati pagheranno un solo biglietto
Torna quest’anno agli Uffizi la Festa dei Doni, introdotta per la prima volta nel 2019 per celebrare il matrimonio di Agnolo Doni e Maddalena Strozzi, avvenuto il 31 gennaio del 1503 a Firenze.
Mercoledì 31 gennaio le coppie di innamorati potranno accedere alla prestigiosa galleria pagando un solo biglietto di accesso.
Le sembianze dei coniugi Doni possono essere ammirate nella Galleria degli Uffizi attraverso i due ritratti realizzato da Raffaello ma non solo.
Fu il ricco mercante di stoffe Doni a commissionarmi il celeberrimo tondo raffigurante la Sacra Famiglia con San Giovannino, più noto per l’appunto come Tondo Doni.
Non è dato sapere se l’opera mi fu chiesta come dono di nozze oppure la realizzai in occasione della nascita della tanto attesa primogenita Maria anche se numerosi indizi fanno propendere per questa seconda ipotesi.
Il neo direttore Verde, in merito alla Festa dei Doni ha precisato che “Il Giorno dei Doni è il San Valentino degli Uffizi: una bellissima festa con cui, da cinque anni, il museo celebra un’unione d’amore iconica, quella che, oltre mezzo millennio fa, portò alla creazione di uno dei tesori della Galleria, il Tondo Doni di Michelangelo.
Invito tutte le coppie, tutti gli innamorati, a venire in museo da noi per prendere parte a questa giornata e suggellarla magicamente, al cospetto di uno dei capolavori dell’arte occidentale”.

The Festa dei Doni returns to the Uffizi this year, introduced for the first time in 2019 to celebrate the marriage of Agnolo Doni and Maddalena Strozzi, which took place on 31 January 1503 in Florence.
On Wednesday 31 January, couples in love will be able to access the prestigious gallery by paying a single entry ticket.
The likenesses of the Doni spouses can be admired in the Uffizi Gallery through the two portraits created by Raphael but not only.
It was the rich fabric merchant Doni who commissioned me the famous tondo depicting the Holy Family with the infant Saint John, better known as the Doni Tondo. It is not known whether the work was asked of me as a wedding gift or whether I created it on the occasion of the birth of the long-awaited first-born Maria, although numerous clues point towards this second hypothesis.
The new director Verde, regarding the Festival of Gifts, specified that “The Day of Gifts is Valentine’s Day at the Uffizi: a beautiful celebration with which, for five years, the museum has celebrated an iconic union of love, one which, over half a millennium ago, it led to the creation of one of the Gallery’s treasures, Michelangelo’s Doni Tondo.
I invite all couples, all lovers, to come to our museum to take part in this day and seal it magically, in the presence of one of the masterpieces of Western art.”
