The two female heads of the Uffizi
The drawing that I propose today is kept in the Cabinet of Drawings and Prints of the Uffizi.
With the black pencil I traced a young female head in the foreground while the face of a slightly older woman in the background. The girl’s hairstyle recalls the complex ones of the sibyls of the Sistine but also of the personification of the Night in the New Sacristy.
It is one of the three precious sheets that I gave to Gherardo Perini, a Florentine gentleman as reported by Vasari in the Lives.
“… he gave to Gherardo Perini, a Florentine gentleman his friend, in three sheets some divine heads adapted in black pencil which are after his death they arrived in the hands of the most illustrious Don Francesco prince of Florence, who holds them for joys, as they are “ from Vasari’s Lives
A very faithful copy of this drawing exists, today preserved at the Teylers Museum in Haarlem attributed by Tolnay to the Mini.
For the moment, your Michelangelo Buonarroti greets you by giving you an appointment at the next posts and on social networks.
