Nel riquadro che raffigura l’episodio della Genesi della Separazione delle Acque, affrescai un Dio in volo possente ma leggero, accompagnato da tre angeli. Si protende verso chi osserva con uno slanci prospettico assai ardito.

“Si vede in quella volta una figura che scorta, e dove tu camini per la cappella, continuo gira, e si voltan per ogni verso” scrisse Vasari proprio in merito a questa rappresentazione dell’Eterno.

Dio guarda verso il basso le acque che sta separando dalle terre con la sola imposizione delle mani. Pennellate fluide e veloci modellano le forme e creano variazioni tonali  per dar volume alle vesti e ai corpo raffigurati.

Un questo riquadro non sono presenti ripensamenti e ai quattro ignudi che lo circondano diedi aspetti e atteggiamenti completamente differenti gli uni dagli altri.

Questo riquadro fa parte delle tre scene della creazione nelle quali la figura di Dio è predominante. In tutte e tre i riquadri Dio indossa la medesima veste viola che non cela le sue forme corporee ma bensì le sottolinea e le mette ben in evidenza.

The separation of the waters

In the box depicting the Genesis episode of the Separation of the Waters, I frescoed a mighty but light flying God, accompanied by three angels. He reaches out towards the observer with a very bold prospective rush.

“In that vault you can see a figure who escorts, and where you walk around the chapel, he keeps turning, and turning in every direction” wrote Vasari precisely about this representation of the Eternal.

God looks down at the waters he is separating from the lands by the laying on of hands alone. Fluid and fast brushstrokes shape the shapes and create tonal variations to give volume to the clothes and bodies depicted.

In this square there are no second thoughts and to the four naked ones that surround it he gave completely different aspects and attitudes from each other.

This box is part of the three scenes of creation in which the figure of God is predominant. In all three panels, God wears the same purple robe which does not conceal his bodily forms but rather underlines and highlights them.
