Sculture di Lorenzo Bartolini: l’allegoria e il purismo in mostra a Milano
Se l’arte della scultura vi appassiona come appassiona me, vi invito ad andare a visitare la mostra dedicata alle opere di Bartolini che sta per aprire a Milano.
Dal 25 settembre la Fondazione Luigi Rovati apre al pubblico l’esposizione curata da Carlo Sisi dal titolo “Il volto e l’allegoria. Sculture di Lorenzo Bartolini”.
Nelle opere in mostra, Bartolini mette in evidenza l’esperienza romantica del purismo italiano della prima metà dell’800, di cui è stato uno dei massimi protagonisti.
Al centro dell’esposizione vengono posti due punti cardini dell’opera di Bartolini: l’allegoria e il ritratto.
La mostra inizia al Piano Nobile con la versione del 1864 della Carità educatrice. La prima scultura con questo soggetto fu commissionata all’artista dal granduca Ferdinando III di Toscana nel 1817 e oggi è custodita a Palazzo Pitti, a Firenze.
Nella Sala Armi invece è stato ricostruito il percorso creativo del Bartolini, dalla forma del modello ai prototipi, fino ad arrivare all’opera compiuta in marmo.
Lo Spazio Bianco propone la rappresentazione del volto con la grande ricerca e sensibilità dell’artista che non smise mai di applicare nelle sue opere la fisionomia psicologica.

Sculptures by Lorenzo Bartolini: allegory and purism on display in Milan
If you are as passionate about the art of sculpture as I am, I invite you to visit the exhibition dedicated to the works of Bartolini that is about to open in Milan.
From September 25, the Luigi Rovati Foundation opens to the public the exhibition curated by Carlo Sisi entitled “The face and the allegory. Sculptures by Lorenzo Bartolini”.
In the works on display, Bartolini highlights the romantic experience of Italian purism in the first half of the 19th century, of which he was one of the greatest protagonists.
At the center of the exhibition are two key points of Bartolini’s work: allegory and portrait.
The exhibition begins on the Piano Nobile with the 1864 version of the Educating Charity. The first sculpture with this subject was commissioned to the artist by the Grand Duke Ferdinand III of Tuscany in 1817 and is now kept in Palazzo Pitti, in Florence.
In the Sala Armi, instead, Bartolini’s creative path has been reconstructed, from the shape of the model to the prototypes, up to the finished work in marble.
The Spazio Bianco proposes the representation of the face with the great research and sensitivity of the artist who never stopped applying psychological physiognomy in his works.
