Il 7 aprile 2023 aprirà a Torino la nuova mostra dal titolo “Leonardo da Vinci. Il genio e il suo tempo”.

Allestita nei due caveaux sotterranei della Biblioteca Reale, l’esposizione ripercorrerà i 67 anni della vita del grande maestro attraverso opere che ne che testimoniano i maggiori eventi storici del suo tempo e i personaggi che li hanno vissuti in prima persona.

La Biblioteca Reale esporrà tredici opere di Leonardo da Vinci, fra le quali i fogli con l’Autoritratto, il Volto di fanciulla, la Testa virile di profilo incoronata d’alloro, e il Codice sul volo degli uccelli. L’esposizione sarà arricchita da una preziosa selezione di disegni, manoscritti, incunaboli, antiche carte geografiche che illustrano gli eventi epocali che accompagnarono la vita di Leonardo dal 1452 al 1519.

Saranno presenti opere mie, di Raffaello, Durer e finanche di Cristoforo Colombo, tutte abitualmente custodite nella Biblioteca Reale e nella Galleria Sabauda.

Senza dubbio il Rinascimento fu un’epoca di grandi accadimenti storici ma anche di uomini che hanno lasciato un segno indelebile come me e Cristoforo Colombo.

I fatti e personaggi dell’epoca di Leonardo da Vinci saranno proposti nella mostra attraverso manoscritti fondamentali come il Trattato di architettura civile e militare di Francesco di Giorgio Martini del 1486 e le Storie di San Gioachino, miniate da Cristoforo De Predis per Galeazzo Maria Sforza nel 1476. Ci saranno poi  incunaboli unici come il foglio della Bibbia di Gutenberg, il primo libro a caratteri mobili e il trattato De re militari di Roberto Valturio del 1483.

Sarà un piacere perdersi fra le antiche carte geografiche come la Carta dell’Italia e la Geocarta nautica universale di Giovanni Vespucci e i preziosi disegni; uno su tutti il mio studio per la Sibila Cumana per la volta della Sistina.

Il percorso espositivo prosegue nel caveau dedicato a Leonardo da Vinci con il nucleo dei tredici disegni di Leonardo acquistati dal re Carlo Alberto nel 1839.

Datati fra il 1480 e il 1515, i fogli attestano l’attività e gli interessi di Leonardo a partire dalla giovinezza fino alla piena maturità. Alcuni rimandano a celebri capolavori del maestro, come i nudi per la Battaglia d’Anghiari, i cavalli per i monumenti Sforza e Trivulzio, lo studio per l’angelo della Vergine delle Rocce, noto come Volto di fanciulla; altri, come le Proporzioni del volto e dell’occhio.

Non mancheranno l’iconico autoritratto di Leonardo da Vinci e il Codice sul Volo degli Uccelli regalato nel 1893 da Teodoro Sabachnikoff a re Umberto I.

Dal 7 al 16 aprile, l’esperienza di visita, che si rinnova ogni anno in occasione delle feste pasquali, consentirà di ammirare le opere del genio di Vinci conservate a Torino. 

Dal martedì alla domenica, dalle 9 alle 19, guide di CoopCulture accompagneranno il pubblico alla scoperta della Biblioteca Reale e del suo grande patrimonio vinciano.

Dal 18 aprile al 9 luglio, l’esposizione continuerò con le copie al vero dei disegni di Leonardo, realizzate con sofisticate tecniche di riproduzione in facsimile questo perché i disegni sono manufatti molto delicati e fragili. Le copie ad altissima definizione realizzate con le nuove tecnologie consentono di rispondere alla necessità di mostrare al pubblico le opere preservandole per le generazioni future.

La mostra Il genio e il suo tempo. A tu per tu con Leonardo è sostenuta da SMARTART Torino e da OMT – Officine Meccaniche Torino, realizzata in collaborazione con CoopCulture e con il patrocinio dell’Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (INAF) e della Città di Torino.

Dal 7 al 16 aprile l’accesso è consentito esclusivamente con visita guidata al costo di € 20 (ingresso gratuito per bambini da 0 a 6 anni, possessori di Abbonamento Musei, Torino + Piemonte Card e Royal Pass) per gruppi composti da massimo 25 visitatori ciascuno. L’acquisto del biglietto può essere perfezionato online, presso la biglietteria dei Musei Reali e dal 7 aprile anche presso la Biblioteca Reale oppure scrivendo a: info.torino@coopculture.it. La prenotazione è vivamente consigliata.

Leonardo da Vinci: the genius and his time in Turin

On 7 April 2023, the new exhibition entitled “Leonardo da Vinci. His genius and time ”.

Set up in the two underground vaults of the Royal Library, the exhibition will retrace the 67 years of the great master’s life through works that testify to the major historical events of his time and the personalities who experienced them firsthand.

The Royal Library will exhibit thirteen works by Leonardo da Vinci, including the sheets with the Self-Portrait, the Face of a Girl, the Male Head in Profile Crowned with Laurel, and the Codex on the Flight of Birds. The exhibition will be enriched by a precious selection of drawings, manuscripts, incunabula, ancient maps that illustrate the epochal events that accompanied Leonardo’s life from 1452 to 1519.

There will be works by me, by Raphael, Durer and even by Christopher Columbus, all usually kept in the Royal Library and in the Savoy Gallery.

Undoubtedly the Renaissance was an era of great historical events but also of men who left an indelible mark like me and Christopher Columbus.

The facts and personalities of Leonardo da Vinci’s time will be presented in the exhibition through fundamental manuscripts such as the Treaty of civil and military architecture by Francesco di Giorgio Martini of 1486 and the Stories of San Gioachino, illuminated by Cristoforo De Predis for Galeazzo Maria Sforza in 1476. Then there will be unique incunabula such as the sheet from Gutenberg’s Bible, the first book with movable type and the treatise De re militari by Roberto Valturio of 1483.

It will be a pleasure to get lost among the ancient geographical maps such as the Carta dell’Italia and the universal nautical geochart by Giovanni Vespucci and the precious drawings; one above all my study for the Sibila Cumana for the Sistine vault.

The exhibition itinerary continues in the vault dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci with the nucleus of the thirteen drawings by Leonardo purchased by King Carlo Alberto in 1839.

Dated between 1480 and 1515, the sheets attest to Leonardo’s activity and interests from his youth to full maturity. Some refer to famous masterpieces by the master, such as the nudes for the Battle of Anghiari, the horses for the Sforza and Trivulzio monuments, the study for the angel of the Virgin of the Rocks, known as the Face of a Girl; others, such as the Proportions of the face and the eye.

There will also be the iconic self-portrait of Leonardo da Vinci and the Code on the Flight of Birds given in 1893 by Teodoro Sabachnikoff to King Umberto I.

From 7 to 16 April, the visit experience, which is renewed every year on the occasion of the Easter holidays, will allow you to admire the works of the genius of Vinci preserved in Turin.

From Tuesday to Sunday, from 9 to 19, CoopCulture guides will accompany the public in the discovery of the Royal Library and its great Vincian heritage.

From 18 April to 9 July, the exhibition will continue with life copies of Leonardo’s drawings, made with sophisticated facsimile reproduction techniques because the drawings are very delicate and fragile artefacts. The very high definition copies made with new technologies make it possible to respond to the need to show the works to the public while preserving them for future generations.

The exhibition The genius and his time. Face to face with Leonardo is supported by SMARTART Turin and by OMT – Officine Meccaniche Turin, created in collaboration with CoopCulture and with the patronage of the National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF) and the City of Turin.

From 7 to 16 April, access is allowed only with a guided tour at a cost of € 20 (free admission for children aged 0 to 6, holders of Abbonamento Musei, Torino + Piemonte Card and Royal Pass) for groups of a maximum of 25 visitors each. Tickets can be purchased online, at the Royal Museums ticket office and from 7 April also at the Royal Library or by writing to: info.torino@coopculture.it. Reservation is strongly recommended.

From 18 April to 9 July, access is with a free visit at a cost of €13 or with a ticket integrated with the visit to the Royal Museums at a cost of €20 (reductions and free admissions in force).
