Perugino: la grande mostra per i 500 anni dalla sua morte
Il 2023 sarà l’anno dedicato alle celebrazioni per i 500 anni dalla morte del Perugino, al secolo Pietro di Cristoforo Vannucci, passato a miglior vita nel febbraio del 1523, all’età di 73 anni. Fra le mostre più attese c’è senza dubbio quella che aprirà i battenti a Città della Pieve, città natale del grande artista.
“…al battesimo fu chiamato Pietro”, così si chiamerà l’esposizione, è curata dal comitato scientifico formato da Vittoria Garibaldi, attuale direttrice della Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria, Francesco Federico Mancini, Nicoletta Baldini e Antonio Natali.
Sarà l’occasione per vedere per la prima volta trenta opere del Perugino e dei suoi conterranei per la prima volta riunite. La mostra, dislocata in due diverse sedi espositive quali il Museo Civico Diocesano di Santa Maria dei Servi e Palazzo della Corgna, verrà inaugurata sabato 1 luglio e proseguirà fino al 30 settembre 2023.
I temi principali affrontati saranno quelli che ruotano attorno alle opere dell’artista ovvero la Natività, il Battesimo, la Deposizione dalla Croce e il Compianto su Cristo morto che di fatto sono rappresentativi del suo innovativo percorso artistico.
L’amministrazione comunale precisa in questi giorni che si è stata portata a termine la fase di conferma dei prestiti provenienti da musei nazionali e internazionali come la Galleria degli Uffizi e i Musei Vaticani.

Perugino: the great exhibition for the 500th anniversary of his death
2023 will be the year dedicated to the celebrations for the 500th anniversary of the death of Perugino, born Pietro di Cristoforo Vannucci, who passed away in February 1523, at the age of 73. Among the most eagerly awaited exhibitions is undoubtedly the one that will open its doors in Città della Pieve, the birthplace of the great artist.
“… Pietro was called at his baptism”, as the exhibition will be called, is curated by the scientific committee formed by Vittoria Garibaldi, current director of the National Gallery of Umbria, Francesco Federico Mancini, Nicoletta Baldini and Antonio Natali.
It will be an opportunity to see for the first time thirty works by Perugino and his countrymen brought together for the first time. The exhibition will be located in two different exhibition venues: the Diocesan Museum of Santa Maria dei Servi and Palazzo della Corgna.
The main themes addressed will be those that revolve around the artist’s works or the Nativity, the Baptism, the Deposition from the Cross and the Lamentation over the dead Christ which in fact are representative of his innovative artistic career.
The inauguration is scheduled for Saturday 1 July and will continue until 30 September 2023.
The municipal administration has recently specified that the confirmation phase of loans from national and international museums such as the Uffizi Gallery and the Vatican Museums has been completed.
