Per celebrare i cento anni dalla nascita di Franco Zeffirelli, il Museo della Scala gli dedica un’interessante mostra che propone al pubblico la proficua collaborazione del regista col celebre teatro milanese, protrattasi per più di cinquant’anni.

“Zeffirelli. Gli anni alla Scala”

Sono state ventuno le regie di Zeffirelli, da 1953 fino al 2006. Iniziò a lavorare per il Teatro la Scala con l’Italiana in Algeri, per quell’occasione diretta da Carlo Maria Giulini per concludere la sua sfavillante carriera di regista teatrale con l’Aida diretta da Riccardo Chailly.

Il percorso espositivo inizia nel foyer dei palchi per proseguire poi nel primo piano del museo.

Ci si ritrova faccia a faccia con i preziosi costumi disegnati dallo stesso Zeffirelli per il Turco in Italia indossati da Maria Callas e l’elaborato abito ideato per Placido Domingo in occasione della messa in scena dell’Otello diretto da Kleiber che per la prima volta in assoluto segnò l’ingresso delle telecamere e di conseguenza l’arrivo in televisione dell’opera nelle case degli italiani.

Zeffirelli, oltre ad essere apprezzato per aver inventato grandiose messe in scena, ha lasciato in chi l’ha conosciuto e ha lavorato con lui ricordi straordinari. Aveva rapporti familiari con tutti i collaboratori: dalle sarte che realizzavano i costumi da lui disegnati ai costumi ai falegnami sempre al lavoro dietro le quinte.

In occasione della mostra è stato anche realizzato un video da Francesca Molteni, visibile nella prima sala del museo, con altre testimonianze di Riccardo Chailly, Vittoria Crespi Morbio, Davide Livermore,  Dominique Meyer, Mario Martone, Emilio Sala.

L’allestimento è curato da Valentina Bellavia con grafiche di Emilio Fioravanti. In un’esposizione così dettagliata non potevano mancare i preziosi costumi della Turandot e de La Bohème che verrà riportata in scena il prossimo anno al Teatro la Scala.

Senza dubbio Zeffirelli ha lasciato un segno importante alla Scala e rendergli omaggio è doveroso.

The Teatro la Scala pays homage to Zeffirelli with an exhibition

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Franco Zeffirelli’s birth, the Museo della Scala is dedicating an interesting exhibition to him which offers the public the director’s fruitful collaboration with the famous Milanese theatre, which lasted for more than fifty years.

Zeffirelli directed twenty-one times, from 1953 until 2006. He began working for the Teatro La Scala with the Italiana in Algiers, for that occasion directed by Carlo Maria Giulini to conclude his glittering career as a theater director with the Aida directed by Riccardo Chailly.

The exhibition itinerary begins in the foyer of the boxes and then continues on the first floor of the museum.

We find ourselves face to face with the precious costumes designed by Zeffirelli himself for Il Turco in Italia worn by Maria Callas and the elaborate dress designed for Placido Domingo for the staging of Othello directed by Kleiber which for the first time in absolute marked the entry of television cameras and consequently the arrival of opera on television in the homes of Italians.

But Zeffirelli was not only an inventor of famous stagings, also evoked in the exhibition catalogue, he left behind a very rare memory in the world of opera for the way he treated all his collaborators with familiarity, from the seamstresses who sewed the costumes to the carpenters nailing down the cellars behind the scenes. And this natural sensitivity of him created a harmony of purpose that always gave excellent results

On the occasion of the exhibition, a video was also made by Francesca Molteni, visible in the first room of the museum, with other testimonies by Riccardo Chailly, Vittoria Crespi Morbio, Davide Livermore, Dominique Meyer, Mario Martone, Emilio Sala.
