Ritrovato il testamento di Donatello a Firenze
A Firenze è stato ritrovato il presunto testamento scritto di pugno dal grande Donatello, un documento fino al momento rimasto inedito che rivela alcuni particolari interessanti sulle donazioni fatte dall’artista.
Sul numero 169-170 in uscita di Paragone Arte di maggio-luglio 2023, rivista di arte e letteratura fondata da Roberto Longhi, verrà pubblicato un articolo firmato da Silvia Sinibaldi e Simone Sartini su questo prezioso foglio che riporta la donazione fatta da Donatello a favore del nipote Giovanni di Bonaiuto Lorini Cavalloni.
L’artista mette nero su bianco il lascito di una casa ad uso mulino con annessi pezzi di terra e bosco a Figline di Prato.
Il documento ha permesso di integrare alcuni dati genealogici relativi all’artista, chiarendo alcuni aspetti dei Lorini Cavalloni e sulla propria loro proprietà della cappella del Crocifisso a S. Niccolò ma non solo.
Proseguendo le ricerche è stato possibile identificare con certezza la casa di Donatello sita a Figline di Prato e quella dei Lorini Cavalloni a Firenze.
I risultati di queste importanti indagini verranno presentate pubblicamente nel dettaglio il prossimo autunno presso l’Archivio di Stato di Firenze.

Donatello’s will found in Florence
In Florence, the handwritten will of the great Donatello was found, a document that until now had remained unpublished which reveals some interesting details about the donations made by the artist.
On the issue 169-170 of Paragone Arte of May-July 2023, an art and literature magazine founded by Roberto Longhi, an article signed by Silvia Sinibaldi and Simone Sartini will be published on this precious sheet which shows the donation made by Donatello in favor of his nephew Giovanni di Bonaiuto Lorini Cavalloni.
The artist puts pen to paper the donation of a house for use as a mill with annexed pieces of land and wood in Figline di Prato.
The document found has made it possible to integrate some genealogical data relating to the artist and to clarify some aspects of the Lorini Cavalloni family and their ownership of the chapel of the Crucifix in S. Niccolò but not only.
Continuing the research it was possible to identify with certainty the house of Donatello located in Figline di Prato and that of the Lorini Cavalloni in Florence.
The results of these important investigations will be publicly presented in detail next autumn at the State Archives of Florence.
