Lo storico dell’arte Antonio Natali che ha diretto la Galleria degli Uffizi dal giugno del 2006 al novembre del 2015 e ha lavorato nel medesimo museo ininterrottamente dal 1981 al 2016, mette nero su bianco che in questa situazione a dir poco drammatica ciascuno debba fare la sua parte.

“Ci sarà chi sorride di questa misura, che da sola sarebbe come versare in mare un bicchiere d’acqua; ma da uomo che ha diretto gli Uffizi per una decina d’anni e che per trenta ha visto le istituzioni museali fiorentine contribuire considerevolmente all’esito felice di esposizioni a Mosca e a San Pietroburgo, posso assicurare che si tratterebbe di un isolamento culturale pesante e vergognoso per la Russia, specie se altri stati dell’Europa e americani si conterranno allo stesso modo”.

Quello che sta succedendo in questi giorni in Ucraina è vergognoso e, come afferma Natali “È il momento di contromisure e deterrenti. Senza nulla escludere. In questo contesto trovo che avrebbe un suo peso minacciare Putin che, se non recede presto dai suoi propositi scellerati, nei prossimi dieci anni l’Italia non presterà ai musei russi nessun opera dello Stato“

L’arte non è mai neutrale e come Natali stesso dice nell’articolo che ha scritto sulla Nazione, è il momento giusto di smettere di fare delle opere delle macchine finanziarie per far danari e che gli si riaffidi una missione educativa e formativa di coscienze più mature.
