L’uomo che aiuta Disma nel Giudizio Universale
Nel Giudizio Universale le Croci abbondano: non c’è solo quella di Cristo sorretta dal gruppo di angeli apteri in volo . Se guardate bene ne vedrete altre come quella di Simone lo Zelota, Sant’Andrea visto di spalle e Disma.
Osservando proprio la parte alta della croce che sorregge Disma, il buon ladrone che fu crocifisso assieme a Gesù, noterete un altro uomo che lo aiuta a sorreggerne il peso.
Ha una posa assai ardita. Per sorreggere parte del peso della croce mette in tensione tutta la muscolatura. Passa l’avambraccio sinistro sotto il braccio corto della croce e con la mano destra sostiene la parte verticale.
Ha il volto segnato dall’inevitabile scorrere del tempo e la fronte aggrottata pare voglia mostrare non solo lo sforzo fisico che sta compiendo ma anche i suoi turbinosi pensieri. A cosa starà pensando?
Non è dato sapere cosa gli passi per la testa mentre con la coda dell’occhio guarda Disma con il quale condivide la grande croce e il suo peso che pare essere insostenibile da soli, senza l’aiuto di qualcuno che ne capisca l’importanza e il peso non solo fisico.

The man who helps Dismas in the Last Judgment
In the Last Judgment, crosses abound: there is not only that of Christ supported by a group of apterous angels in flight. If you look closely you will see others such as that of Simon the Zealot, Sant’Andrea seen from behind and Disma.
Looking at the top of the cross that supports Disma, the good thief who was crucified together with Jesus, you will notice another man who helps him support his weight.
He has a very bold pose. To support part of the weight of the cross, he tenses all the muscles. He passes his left forearm under the short arm of the cross and supports the vertical part with his right hand.
His face is marked by the inevitable passing of time and his frown seems to want to show not only the physical effort he is making but also his whirling thoughts. What will he be thinking about?
We don’t know what’s going on in his head while out of the corner of his eye he looks at Dismas with whom he shares the large cross and its weight which seems to be unbearable alone, without the help of someone who understands its importance and not just physical weight.
