Venerdì Santo: oggi è il giorno in cui si ricorda la passione e la Crocifissione di Cristo. Le campane delle chiese hanno suonato per l’ultima volta ieri sera durate il rito della lavanda dei piedi e non si faranno più sentire fino al canto del Gloria durante la Veglia Pasquale, celebrando la Risurrezione di Cristo.

Il Venerdì Santo è’ il giorno del dolore. A questo momento fondamentale per tutta la cristianità, dedicai gran parte della mia produzione artistica dell’ultimo periodo della mia vita ma non solo. L’opera che per prima mi rese celebre nel mondo allora conosciuto fu proprio la Pietà, quella che oggi si trova nella Cappella del Crocifisso nella Basilica di San Pietro

Ero giovane ma la scultura oramai già aveva segnato il mio destino. Negli anni a seguire scolpii altre due Pietà e ne disegnai molte altre, assieme a Crocifissioni e Resurrezioni di gran pregio.

Prima di salutarvi vi voglio lasciare questa foto così particolare della Pietà Vaticana in cui si vede molto bele il volto del Cristo dall’alto e si intravede quello della Vergine in basso a sinistra. Il sempre vostro Michelangleo Buonarroti

Good Friday

Good Friday: today is the day when we remember the passion and the Crucifixion of Christ. The church bells have been ringing for the last time last night during the ritual of washing the feet and they will not be heard until the singing of the Glory during the Easter Vigil, celebrating the Resurrection of Christ.

Good Friday is the day of pain. At this fundamental moment for all of Christendom, I devoted most of my artistic production to the last period of my life but not only. The work that first made me famous in the then known world was precisely the Pietà, the one that today is found in the Chapel of the Crucifix in St. Peter’s Basilica

I was young but now the sculpture had already marked my destiny. In the following years I sculpted two other Pietas and drew many more, along with valuable Crucifixions and Resurrections.
