Mentre ieri si ricordavano i 455 anni dalla mia scomparsa, un ragazzino inglese di soli 13 anni s’è divertito a danneggiare la chiesa di Orsanmichele quasi come se quel patrimonio non appartenesse a lui e al resto dell’umanità.

Dopo aver scavalcato la recinzione si è attaccato alla scultura di San Luca ( copia dell’originale del Giambologna), danneggiando il cornicione. E’ accaduto ieri 18 febbraio, in via dell’Arte della Lana sul far della sera.

Il peso del ragazzo ha fatto precipitare a terra due pezzi di dieci centimetri mentre un altro più grande di 25 centimetri si è staccato solo in parte. Le telecamere presenti in zona hanno ripreso ogni istante del misfatto.

Il ragazzo era con il padre e la madre che appena si sono resi conto del misfatto sono andati via in fretta dirigendosi verso Piazza del Duomo. Per fortuna due passanti hanno visto ciò che era accaduto e hanno inseguito la famiglia segnalandola a una pattuglia presente in loco.

Ma vi pare possibile una cosa del genere? Il ragazzino non è imputabile perché ancora non ha compiuto 14 anni ma i genitori si dovranno far carico dei danni ancora non quantificati.

E’ di pochi giorni fa la notizia che due turiste russe si siano messe a ballare sulla Barcaccia del Bernini in Piazza di Spagna a Roma. Non solo: una volta richiamate dai vigili li avrebbero aggrediti affermando che «Voi non potete niente, noi ricche, noi facciamo quello che vogliamo».

Che la storia dell’arte diventi nell’immediato materia obbligatoria alla stregua dello studio della matematica o della lingua madre in tutte le scuole di ordine e grado, non solo in Italia, ma anche nel resto del mondo. Certo il mio è un sogno ma davvero sarebbe auspicabile accadesse.

Little boy damages the church of Orsanmichele

While yesterday they remembered the 455 years since my death, an English boy of only 13 years has enjoyed damaging the church of Orsanmichele almost as if that heritage did not belong to him and to the rest of humanity.

After having climbed over the fence, he attached himself to the sculpture of San Luca (a copy of the original by Giambologna), damaging the cornice. It happened yesterday, February 18, in via dell’Arte della Lana on the evening.

The weight of the boy has plunged two pieces of ten centimeters to the ground while another 25 centimeters larger has come to a halt. The cameras in the area have resumed every moment of the crime.

The boy was with his father and mother who, as soon as they realized the crime, quickly left, heading towards Piazza del Duomo. Fortunately, two passersby saw what had happened and chased the family to a patrol on the spot.

But do you think such a thing is possible? The boy is not responsible because he has not yet turned 14 but the parents will have to take care of the damages that are not yet quantified.

It is just a few days ago that two Russian tourists were going to dance on Bernini’s Barcaccia in Piazza di Spagna in Rome. Not only that: once recalled by the firemen they would have attacked stating that “You can not nothing, we rich, we do what we want”.

That the history of art becomes the immediate compulsory subject in the same way as the study of mathematics or the mother tongue in all schools of the order and degree, not only in Italy, but also in the rest of the world. Of course mine is a dream but it would be really desirable to happen.
