Casa Buonarroti: esposti i miei studi per Palazzo Medici e per l’intaglio dei marmi per la Sagrestia Nuova
Casa Buonarroti dedica l’esposizione temporanea dei miei disegni un nucleo di fogli e scritti autografi provenienti dall‘Archivio Buonarroti e dall’Archivio Storico Generale della Fabbrica di San Pietro.
In occasione della conferenza del prof. Vitale Zanchettin che ha avuto luogo fra le pareti di casa mia, è stato deciso di proporre al pubblico in originale alcuni disegni, mentre in riproduzione facsimile altri, relativi alla progettazione esecutiva delle mie architetture. Dovete sapere che a lungo lavorai come architetto ma di questo incessante lavoro sono giunte fino ai vostri tempi poche e rare tracce cartacee.
L’esposizione mette in luce la riconsiderazione di quei disegni nella loro corretta interpretazione che è stata oggetto di studi recenti e appena resi noti da Zanchettin.
Mediante questi approfondimenti è stato possibile riconoscere in tali fogli i materiali da me adoperati per la progettazione in cantiere delle modanature delle tombe medicee nella Sagrestia Nuova della Basilica di San Lorenzo.
Nelle teche di cristallo saranno esposte la sagoma ottenuta ritagliando un foglio e poi destinata ad essere realizzata, come di consueto, in latta o legno e adoperata per l’intaglio.
In altri fogli invece si riconosce un disegno a matita rossa a mano libera relativo alla pianta di una delle finestre inginocchiate di Palazzo Medici Riccardi che progettai attorno al 1524.
Nelle teche sarà esposto infine la riproduzione fotografica del foglio appartenente all’Archivio Storico Generale della Fabbrica di San Pietro con la traccia per la cornice della trabeazione del tamburo di San Pietro.

Casa Buonarroti: my studies for Palazzo Medici and for the marble carving for the New Sacristy exhibited
Casa Buonarroti dedicates the temporary exhibition of my drawings to a nucleus of autographed papers and writings from the Buonarroti Archive and the General Historical Archive of the Fabbrica di San Pietro.
On the occasion of the conference by prof. Vitale Zanchettin which took place within the walls of my house, it was decided to propose to the public some original drawings while others relating to the executive design of my architecture were reproduced as facsimiles. You should know that I worked as an architect for a long time but few and rare paper traces have reached your time of this incessant work.
The exhibition highlights the reconsideration of those drawings in their correct interpretation which has been the subject of recent studies just made known by Zanchettin.
Through these insights it was possible to recognize in these sheets the materials I used for the on-site design of the moldings of the Medici tombs in the New Sacristy of the Basilica of San Lorenzo.
The shape obtained by cutting out a sheet and then destined to be made, as usual, in tin or wood and used for carving will be displayed in the glass cases.
In other sheets, however, we can recognize a freehand red pencil drawing relating to the plan of one of the kneeling windows of Palazzo Medici Riccardi that I designed around 1524.
Finally, the photographic reproduction of the sheet belonging to the General Historical Archive of the Fabbrica di San Pietro will be displayed in the display cases with the trace for the frame of the entablature of the tambour of San Pietro.
