A partire da lunedì 12 settembre 2022, il David potrà essere visto e apprezzato sotto un’altra luce o meglio, lunedì verrà inaugurato il nuovo impianto di illuminazione mentre i visitatori avranno modo di vederlo a partire dal giorno successivo.

Con il progetto realizzato da Enel X, le opere della Galleria dell’Accademia sono state dotate di un sistema illuminante all’avanguardia, rigorosamente a led e mirato sia alla valorizzazione dei capolavori presenti nelle varie sale che all’efficienza energetica.

Con la nuova illuminazione che si accenderà sul David si conclude così il progetto che in precedenza ha coinvolto le Sale del Duecento e del Trecento, il Transetto, la Galleria dei Prigioni e infine la Tribuna.

Le nuove soluzioni illuminotecniche esalteranno ancora di più le superfici marmoree del David e i volumi del suo corpo in tensione prima dello scontro con Golia.

Nella zona del grande lucernario, nei fori esistenti, sono stati fissati una serie di proiettori posti a raggiera riadattandone il fissaggio senza apportare modifiche alla vista. I corpi illuminanti di nuova generazione con sorgente LED sono dotati di un’apertura del fascio tale da avvolgere totalmente il David e lasciare in secondo piano il resto dello spazio che lo accoglie, che sarà dotato invece di un sistema di illuminazione artificiale e a regolazione separata.

Durante il giorno l’illuminazione artificiale si aggiunge a quella naturale proveniente dal lucernario. Il sistema artificiale regola la variazione del colore durante le ore del giorno: i proiettori hanno diverse temperature di colore in modo da poter osservare il gigante illuminato da varie prospettive e con un’apparenza cromatica variabile.

Per quanto riguarda l’illuminazione della Galleria dei Prigioni, è stata scelta un’illuminazione a proiezione dalla cornice presente su entrambi i lati della Galleria. Le ottiche sono di alta precisione, spot a fascio stretto e flood a fascio medi.

La luce così viene direzionata concentrando più proiettori sulla singola opera scultorea. Il progetto è stato curato da Enel X.

Lights on the David: the new lighting system

Starting Monday 12 September 2022, the David will be able to be seen and appreciated in a different light or rather, the new lighting system will be inaugurated on Monday while visitors will be able to see it starting the following day.

With the project carried out by Enel X, the works in the Accademia Gallery were equipped with an avant-garde lighting system, strictly led and aimed both at enhancing the masterpieces present in the various rooms and at energy efficiency.

The project that previously involved the 13th and 14th century Halls, the Transept, the Prison Gallery and finally the Tribune ends with the new lighting that will light up on the David.

The new lighting solutions will further enhance the marble surfaces of the David and the volumes of his body in tension before the clash with Goliath.

In the area of ​​the large skylight, a series of radial spotlights have been fixed in the existing holes, re-adapting their fixing without making any changes to the view. The new generation lighting fixtures with LED sources are equipped with a beam opening such as to completely envelop the David and leave the rest of the space that houses it in the background, which will instead be equipped with an artificial lighting system with separate regulation.

During the day, artificial lighting is added to the natural one coming from the skylight. The artificial system regulates the color variation during the hours of the day: the projectors have different color temperatures so that you can observe the illuminated giant from various perspectives and with a variable color appearance.

As regards the lighting of the Gallery of Prisons, projection lighting was chosen from the frame on both sides of the Gallery. The optics are of high precision, narrow beam spot and medium beam flood.

The light is thus directed by concentrating several projectors on the single sculptural work. The project was curated by Enel X.
