Sta per arrivare in Italia la grande mostra dedicata agli Impressionisti in occasione della ricorrenza del 150° anniversario della prima mostra del movimento ‘Affamati di indipendenza’.

Dal 21 novembre 2024 al 4 maggio 2025 il Museo degli Innocenti ospiterà ‘Impressionisti in Normandia. Monet, Bonnard, Corot, Courbet‘, un viaggio in Normandia attraverso opere impressioniste che vanno al di là della semplice raffigurazione di un luogo.

Quel territorio, caratterizzato dalle sue coste frastagliate, con luci mutevoli e paesaggi pittoreschi, ha ispirato artisti oggi celeberrimi come Monet, Renoir, Boudin e tanti altri.

Gli impressionisti, il gruppo di artisti francesi che nella seconda metà del XIX secolo rivoluzionarono il mondo dell’arte, erano definiti “affamati di indipendenza” perché rompevano con le convenzioni artistiche dell’epoca, rifiutando le rigide regole accademiche e cercando nuove forme di espressione.

A differenza dei pittori accademici che prediligevano soggetti storici o mitologici, gli impressionisti si concentravano sulla rappresentazione della realtà quotidiana: paesaggi, scene di vita, ritratti di persone comuni.

Catturavano la luce naturale e i suoi effetti sui colori, dipingendo all’aperto per cogliere i rapidi cambiamenti atmosferici. Usavano pennellate veloci e divise per creare un senso di movimento e vibrazione.

Rifiutavano la minuziosa finitura dei dipinti accademici e preferivano una pennellata più libera e immediata, cercando di rendere l’impressione visiva del momento.

Erano inoltre soliti organizzare mostre indipendenti per mostrare le loro opere, sfidando il giudizio dei critici e delle accademie.

Dal 22 novembre 2024 fino al 4 maggio 2025, per celebrare i 150 anni dalla nascita del movimento, la mostra Impressionisti in Normandia. Monet, Bonnard, Corot, Courbet proporrà le sperimentazioni di luce e colore di questi artisti. 

Fra le opere esposte saranno presenti capolavori come le Falesie a Dieppe di Delacroix, La spiaggia a Trouville di Courbet ma anche opere di Renoir come il celeberrimo Tramonto, veduta di Guernesey e dipinti di Monet, Corot, Bonnard e molti altri.

Impressionists: coming to Florence

The great exhibition dedicated to the Impressionists is coming to Italy on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the first exhibition of the ‘Hungry for Independence’ movement.

From 21 November 2024 to 4 May 2025, the Museo degli Innocenti will host ‘Impressionists in Normandy. Monet, Bonnard, Corot, Courbet‘, a journey to Normandy through Impressionist works that go beyond the simple representation of a place.

That territory, characterized by its jagged coasts, with changing lights and picturesque landscapes, has inspired artists who are now very famous such as Monet, Renoir, Boudin and many others.

The Impressionists, the group of French artists who revolutionized the world of art in the second half of the 19th century, were defined as “hungry for independence” because they broke with the artistic conventions of the time, rejecting the rigid academic rules and seeking new forms of expression.

Unlike academic painters who preferred historical or mythological subjects, the Impressionists focused on the representation of everyday reality: landscapes, scenes of life, portraits of ordinary people.

They captured natural light and its effects on colors, painting outdoors to capture the rapid changes in the atmosphere. They used quick, divided brushstrokes to create a sense of movement and vibration.

They rejected the meticulous finishing of academic paintings and preferred a freer and more immediate brushstroke, trying to convey the visual impression of the moment.

They also used to organize independent exhibitions to show their works, challenging the judgment of critics and academies.

From November 22, 2024 to May 4, 2025, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of the movement, the exhibition Impressionists in Normandy. Monet, Bonnard, Corot, Courbet will propose the experiments with light and color of these artists.

Among the works on display there will be masterpieces such as the Cliffs at Dieppe by Delacroix, The Beach at Trouville by Courbet but also works by Renoir such as the famous Sunset, view of Guernesey and paintings by Monet, Corot, Bonnard and many others.
