“Impression, Morisot”: la prima grande mostra in Italia dedicata a Berthe Morisot
A Parigi, centocinquant’anni fa, nasceva il movimento artistico dell’Impressionismo. Gli artisti aderenti furono letteralmente rifiutati dal Salon che esponeva artisti direttamente collegati all’Académie des Beaux Arts di Parigi.
I trenta giovani impressionisti fra i quali Edgar Degas, Paul Cézanne, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro, Alfred Sisley e Claude Monet si riuniscono nello studio del fotografo Felix Nadar e propongono sessantatré opere.
Fra questi talenti era presente una sola pittrice: Berthe Morisot.
“Impression, Morisot” è la prima grande mostra in Italia dedicata a Berthe Morisot e aprirà i battenti al pubblico dall’11 ottobre fino al 23 febbraio presso l’Appartamento del Doge a Palazzo Ducale.
L’esposizione verrà organizzata in collaborazione con il Museo di Belle Arti di Nizza e sostenuta da Regione Liguria e Comune e proporrà alcune novità scientifiche relative ai soggiorni in riviera dell’artista e all’influenza che ebbero sulla sua produzione artistica.
Berthe Morisot (1841-1895) fu una delle pioniere del movimento impressionista, dominato prevalentemente da uomini. La sua arte, caratterizzata da pennellate fluide, composizioni luminose e una sensibile attenzione alla luce e all’atmosfera, catturò l’essenza della vita quotidiana e delle attività ricreative dell’epoca.
Pur condividendo i principi fondamentali dell’Impressionismo con i colleghi impressionisti, l’opera di Morisot aveva alle spalle un maggior numero di disegni preparatori necessari per poi migliorare la resa dei dettagli.
Era abile nel catturare l’essenza delle scene pittoriche senza concentrarsi esclusivamente sul colore.
Saranno oltre ottanta le opere, documenti fotografici e d’archivio esposti che andranno ad approfondire aspetti inediti di tutta la carriera della pittrice impressionista.
La curatrice di “Impression, Morisot” è una delle massime esperte dell’artista e studiosa del movimento impressionista: Marianne Mathieu.

In Paris, one hundred and fifty years ago, the artistic movement of Impressionism was born. The participating artists were literally rejected by the Salon which exhibited artists directly linked to the Académie des Beaux Arts in Paris.
The thirty young impressionists including Edgar Degas, Paul Cézanne, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro, Alfred Sisley and Claude Monet gather in the studio of the photographer Felix Nadar and propose sixty-three works.
Among these talents there was only one painter: Berthe Morisot.
“Impression, Morisot” is the first major exhibition in Italy dedicated to Berthe Morisot and will open its doors to the public from 11 October until 23 February at the Doge’s Apartment in the Doge’s Palace. The exhibition will be organized in collaboration with the Museum of Fine Arts of Nice and supported by the Liguria Region and the Municipality and will propose some scientific innovations relating to the artist’s stays on the Riviera and the influence they had on his artistic production.
There will be over eighty works, photographic and archive documents on display which will delve into previously unpublished aspects of the impressionist painter’s entire career.
The curator of “Impression, Morisot” is one of the leading experts on the artist and scholar of the impressionist movement: Marianne Mathieu.
