Quello che vi presento oggi è un foglio in cui mi misi al lavoro per studiare pose e forme di putti.

Se osservate bene, nella zona sinistra del foglio fra i due putti, si vede anche, appena accennato, lo schizzo di una Madonna con Bambino. Gli oto putti sono invece ben visibili sarebbero riconducibili agli studi del San Giovannino del Tondo Taddei meno che uno.

E’ probabile che il gruppo dei tre putti a sinistra sia stato realizzato prima in ordine temporale. Osservate bene quello più in alto: vedete che non sta in piedi da solo ma sembra sorretto? Ebbene, probabilmente è lo studio del Gesù Bambino sorretto fra le ginocchia della Madonna di Bruges. Non è un caso infatti che una mano, non mia, abbia annotato al centro del foglio la dicitura Madonna di Bruges.

Visto la tipologia e la modalità con la quale realizzai questi studi appartenenti al British Museum, il foglio è stato datato fra il 1504 e il 1505. I

The sheet with the cherubs

What I present to you today is a sheet in which I set to work to study poses and forms of cherubs.

If you look carefully, in the left area of ​​the sheet between the two cherubs, you can also see, barely mentioned, the sketch of a Madonna with Child. The eight cherubs are clearly visible, which could be traced back to the studies of San Giovannino del Tondo Taddei less than one.

It is probable that the group of three putti on the left was realized earlier in temporal order. Take a good look at the top one: can you see that he is not standing alone but seems to be supported? Well, it is probably the study of the Baby Jesus held between the knees of the Madonna of Bruges. It is no coincidence that one hand, not mine, has written the word Madonna di Bruges in the middle of the sheet.

Given the type and manner in which I carried out these studies belonging to the British Museum, the sheet was dated between 1504 and 1505.
