Roma entra nella fase finale del Giubileo 2025. A partire dal 25 dicembre 2025 inizieranno i riti di chiusura delle Porte Sante delle quattro Basiliche papali maggiori, eventi solenni che segnano la conclusione dell’Anno Santo della Speranza, aperto il 24 dicembre 2024 da papa Francesco.

La chiusura definitiva del Giubileo è fissata per il 6 gennaio 2026, giorno dell’Epifania, con la celebrazione nella Basilica di San Pietro presieduta da papa Leone XIV.

Porte Sante e Giubileo: un rito tra fede e patrimonio artistico

Le Porte Sante di Roma rappresentano uno dei simboli più riconoscibili del Giubileo. Aperte solo durante gli Anni Santi, sono elementi architettonici e artistici di grande valore, spesso decorate con rilievi bronzei a soggetto biblico. La loro chiusura sancisce la fine del tempo giubilare e il ritorno alla quotidianità liturgica delle basiliche.

Santa Maria Maggiore, prima Porta Santa a chiudere

La prima Porta Santa a essere richiusa sarà quella della Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, tra i più antichi santuari mariani della cristianità, celebre per i mosaici paleocristiani del V secolo.

San Giovanni in Laterano, la cattedrale di Roma

Il 27 dicembre 2025 alle ore 11 toccherà alla Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano, cattedrale di Roma e sede episcopale del Papa. La chiusura della Porta Santa avrà luogo con una celebrazione eucaristica solenne.

San Paolo fuori le Mura, il rito del 28 dicembre

La Basilica di San Paolo fuori le Mura chiuderà la propria Porta Santa il 28 dicembre 2025 alle ore 10. Il complesso monumentale, ricostruito dopo l’incendio dell’Ottocento, è uno dei luoghi più suggestivi del pellegrinaggio giubilare.

San Pietro, la chiusura solenne del Giubileo 2025

Il momento conclusivo dell’Anno Santo si svolgerà nella Basilica di San Pietro. Il 6 gennaio 2026, papa Leone XIV chiuderà la Porta Santa prima di celebrare la Messa dell’Epifania alle ore 9.30, atto finale del Giubileo 2025.

Durante la celebrazione verrà dato appuntamento ai pellegrini al Giubileo straordinario della Redenzione del 2033.

La quinta Porta Santa nel carcere di Rebibbia

Accanto alle basiliche storiche, il Giubileo 2025 ha introdotto una novità senza precedenti: una quinta Porta Santa, aperta da papa Francesco il 26 dicembre 2024 nella cappella del carcere di Rebibbia, a Roma. La data della chiusura non è stata ancora resa nota.
