Ritrovato un mio disegno con il Giudizio Universale?
Stando a quanto riportato in queste ore dal quotidiano ‘Il Giorno’, sembrerebbe che un disegno acquistato all’asta da un collezionista polacco nel 2019, relativo al Giudizio Universale, possa essere attribuito a me.
Il disegno in questione fu venduto dalla casa d’aste Koller di Zurigo e si mormora sia stato io a realizzarlo prima di metter mano all’affresco.
Il foglio è stato sottoposto a diverse analisi e studi durante gli ultimi cinque anni e domani verranno presentate le conclusioni in merito al disegno presso la città di Jasna Góra (Czestochowa), in Polonia, luogo dove è situata una replica digitale del Giudizio Universale.
La scelta del giorno in cui saranno rivelati i criteri che hanno portato ad attribuire il foglio a me non è casuale: giovedì 6 marzo, in concomitanza con i 550 anni esatti dalla mia nascita.
Se il disegno davvero fosse opera mia la cosa sarebbe assai sorprendente ma permettetemi il beneficio del dubbio, prima ancora di poter vedere il foglio in questione.
Al momento ne è stata resa nota solo una porzione ed è quella che vedete nella foto, affiancata alla porzione del Giudizio Universale con la quale combacerebbe. Il che mi fa pensare solo così piuttosto a una copia dall’opera mia che a uno studio preparatorio. Attendo però di vedere l’intero prima di dare un giudizio in merito.
Il disegno fu comprato all’asta con l’attribuzione a Giulio Clovio. Domani sarà Jerzy Mizioek, a spiegare i motivi che hanno portato all’attribuzione a me del disegno.
Staremo a vedere. Intanto sappiamo che durante la conferenza non verrà mostrato l’originale, ben chiuso in una banca a Varsavia, ma bensì un fac-simile.
Il disegno autentico è stato realizzato su pergamena.

My drawing with the Last Judgement found?
According to what was reported in these hours by the newspaper ‘Il Giorno’, it seems that a drawing purchased at auction by a Polish collector in 2019, could be an authentic study of mine for the composition of the Last Judgement.
The drawing in question was sold by the auction house Koller of Zurich, Switzerland and it is assumed that it could be an original study of the fresco.
The sheet has been subjected to various analyses and studies during the last five years and tomorrow the conclusions regarding the drawing will be presented in the city of Jasna Góra (Czestochowa), in Poland, where a digital replica of the Last Judgement is located.
The choice of the day on which the criteria that led to the attribution of the sheet to me will be revealed is not accidental: Thursday 6 March, coinciding with the 550th anniversary of my birth.
If the drawing were really my work, it would be very surprising, but allow me to give you the benefit of the doubt, even before seeing the sheet in question.
At the moment, only a portion of it has been made public, and it is the one you see in the photo, next to the portion of the Last Judgement with which it would match. Which makes me think only in this way, rather of a copy of my work than of a preparatory study. However, I am waiting to see the whole thing before making an opinion on it.
The drawing was bought at auction with the attribution to Giulio Clovio. Tomorrow it will be Jerzy Mizioek, who will explain the reasons that led to the attribution of the drawing to me.
We will see. In the meantime, we know that during the conference, the original will not be shown, well locked away in a bank in Warsaw, but rather a facsimile.
