Basti pensare alla Scuola di Atene affrescata per papa Giulio II nei Palazzo Vaticani o agli incredibili disegni degli arazzi destinati alla Cappella Sistina, commissionati da papa Leone X, giusto per citare due grandiosi lavori.

Cosa sarebbe stato il Rinascimento italiano senza Raffaello? Non lo sapremo mai ma abbiamo la certezza che i suoi capolavori ancora oggi continuino a mostrare un concetto di bellezza senza tempo.

L’armonia delle forme, la sua tecnica pittorica, la grazia delle pose e la perfezione di ogni pennellata stesa, hanno reso Raffaello uno dei più grandi pittori di sempre. Ecco perché la Taschen, dopo aver pubblicato grandi libri monografici dedicati a me, a Leonardo da Vinci e a Caravaggio, non ha potuto fare a meno di pubblicare il volume ‘Raffaello. L’opera completa. Dipinti, affreschi, arazzi, architettura’.

Raffaello seppe coniugare la tradizione classica con un’interpretazione personale e innovativa, creando uno stile unico e inconfondibile. Le sue opere, famose per la loro bellezza ideale, sono espressione di un profondo senso di umanità e spiritualità.

Il volume in grande formato riesce a trascinare il lettore all’interno delle opere, mostrando dettagli sorprendenti. Osservare a distanza ravvicinata la superba Galatea così come la Fornarina o la Madonna della Seggiola non è cosa da tutti i giorni ma le foto presenti nel volume rendono possibile avere costantemente a portata di mano riproduzioni di altissima qualità.

Inutile dire che ho amato questo volume dal primo istante che l’ho avuto tra le mani, arrivato nel suo elegante cofanetto in cartoncino con tanto di maniglia per trasportarlo. 720 pagine in formato XXL per un peso complessivo di 5,7 chili: fino al momento è il libro più completo che sia mai stato pubblicato fino al momento sull’artista, sia per quanto riguarda la ricchezza dei testi, sia per l’incredibile apparato fotografico.
