La notte del 2 dicembre è stata effettuata la ricognizione della Porta Santa della Basilica di San Pietro.

E’ una cerimonia molto importante che precede di qualche settimana quella ancor più solenne dell’apertura del Giubileo2025 da parte di Papa Francesco. Si effettua per verificare che la Porta Santa sia intatta e che sia pronta in vista del rito che verrà effettuato il 24 dicembre.

Il rito è stato guidato dal cardinale Gambetti e ha compreso la demolizione della parete che di fatto sigilla la porta e l’estrazione della cassetta di metallo che, oltre a custodire le chiavi della preziosa porta, contiene altri oggetti simbolici.

Sono stati i sampietrini ad abbattere il muro e ad estrarre la cassetta metallica che fu murata lì dentro durante la chiusura del Giubileo straordinario della Misericordia del 2016, il 2 novembre dello stesso anno.

Il contenitore è stato aperto solennemente nella Sala Capitolare.

All’interno del contenitore metallico, come accennato prima, c’è la chiave che servirà per aprire la porta, le maniglie, pergamena del Rogito che ne attestava la chiusura, quattro mattoni dorati e alcune medaglie dei pontificati che hanno affrontato un anno giubilare tra le quali quelle di Francesco, Benedetto XVI e Giovanni Paolo II.

Il Maestro delle Celebrazioni Liturgiche Pontificie Diego Ravelli, ha preso in consegna documenti e gli oggetti della recognitio per portarli a Papa Francesco.

Jubilee 2025: the reconnaissance of the Holy Door

The reconnaissance of the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica was carried out on the night of December 2.

It is a very important ceremony that precedes the even more solemn opening of the Jubilee Year by Pope Francis by a few weeks. It is carried out to verify that the Holy Door is intact and ready for the rite that will be performed on December 24.
