A partire dal 1° luglio, riapriranno al pubblico le torri, le porte e le fortezze di Firenze. Da secoli custodiscono la città e sono intrise di storie di guerre e pace, storie di uomini e donne, di artisti e storie di coraggio ma anche di paure indicibili.

Porta San Frediano, la Torre della Zecca, Porta Romana e poi le fortezze cittadine come Forte Belvedere e il Bastione di San Giorgio, che consentono di avere una vista su Firenze dall’alto e Fortezza di San Giovanni, che invece la presidia la città dal basso sono pronte per accogliere i visitatori.

Si tratta di una proposta mirata a valorizzare il patrimonio cittadino organizzata dai Musei Civici Fiorentini e da MUS.E con la collaborazione dell’Ufficio Patrimonio Mondiale e della Direzione Servizi Tecnici del Comune.

I fiorentini e i turisti non solo potranno così approfondire toccando con mano il sistema difensivo della città ma anche godere di panorami mozzafiato.

L’apertura al pubblico di Porta San Frediano andrà dal 1° fino al 31 luglio, sarà visitabile tutti i giorni dalle 17 alle 20 in collaborazione con la Fondazione Angeli del bello.

A seguire, dal 1° al 31 agosto aprirà la Torre della Zecca, in piazza Piave, con gli stessi orari. Per tutto il mese di settembre sarà invece aperta Porta Romana (dalle 16 alle 19).

Per godere a pieno di questo circuito di monumenti sono state ideate una serie di altre attività per accompagnare il visitatore alla scoperta di questi luoghi straordinari.

Towers, gates and fortresses of Florence open to visitors

From 1 July, the towers, gates and fortresses of Florence will reopen to the public. They have guarded the city for centuries and are imbued with stories of war and peace, stories of men and women, artists and stories of courage but also of unspeakable fears.

Porta San Frediano, the Torre della Zecca, Porta Romana and then the city fortresses such as Forte Belvedere and the Bastione di San Giorgio, which allow you to have a view of Florence from above and Fortezza di San Giovanni, which instead presides over the city from below are ready to welcome visitors.

It is a proposal aimed at enhancing the city’s heritage organized by the Florentine Civic Museums and MUS.E with the collaboration of the World Heritage Office and the Technical Services Department of the Municipality.

Florentines and tourists will not only be able to learn more about the city’s defense system by touching their hands, but also enjoy breathtaking views.

Porta San Frediano will be open to the public from 1st to 31st July and can be visited every day from 5pm to 8pm in collaboration with the Angeli del bello Foundation.

The Torre della Zecca, in Piazza Piave, will then open from 1st to 31st August at the same times. Porta Romana will be open throughout the month of September (from 4 to 7 pm).

To fully enjoy this circuit of monuments, a series of other activities have been devised to accompany the visitor in the discovery of these extraordinary places.
