Il disegno che vi propongo è opera di Federico Zuccari ed è assai singolare: sedetevi comodi che vi racconto la sua storia dal principio.

Ebbene, è un disegno tracciato a penna con inchiostro marrone, acquerellato e con sopra degli schizzi a sanguigna mentre le figure del Giudizio Universale furono tracciate a matita nera.

Orbene, Federico Zuccari volle realizzare per il fratello artista Taddeo, più grande di lui e morto precocemente nel 1566, qualcosa di unico. Per rendere in qualche modo eterna la sua esistenza attraverso una serie di ventiquattro disegni che probabilmente furono ideati come studi per un ciclo di pitture.

Sedici di queste raffigurazioni mostrano delle scene di vita di Taddeo, quattro delle personificazioni di virtù e le ultime quattro sono ai tempi vostre solo mediante copie e propongono ritratti di Taddeo e dei tre grandi artisti da cui molto apprese: io, Raffaello e Polidoro da Caravaggio.

Ogni disegno è accompagnato da versi scritti da Federico in onore del fratello. Questo per esempio riporta: “Ecco qui, o Giuditio, osservando/ va de l’antico, e Pulidoro il fare. E l’opre insiem di Rafael studiando”.

Federico disegna Taddeo nella Cappella Sistina, davanti all’altare sui gradini, dove viene posto il trono papale. Ha con se gli strumenti del disegno mentre la bottiglietta dell’inchiostro e l’astuccio con le penne sono posati a terra.

Mentre disegna sostiene con la gamba sinistra e la rispettiva mano sia la tavola sulla quale è appoggiata il foglio che il calamaio.

Taddeo sta studiando le figure del Giudizio Universale schizzate sommariamente in questo disegno appartenente alla Galerie de Bayser di Parigi.

Well, it is a drawing traced in pen with brown ink, watercolor and with red chalk sketches on top while the figures of the Last Judgment were traced in black pencil.

However, Federico Zuccari wanted to create something unique for his artist brother Taddeo, older than him and who died early in 1566. He wanted to somehow make his existence eternal through a series of twenty-four drawings that were probably conceived as studies for a cycle of paintings.

Sixteen of these representations show scenes from the life of Taddeo, four of the personifications of virtue and the last four are in your time only through copies and offer portraits of Taddeo and the three great artists from whom he learned a lot: me, Raphael and Polidoro da Caravaggio .

Each drawing is accompanied by verses written by Federico in honor of his brother. This one, for example, reports: “Here you are, o Giuditio, observing/ goes from the ancient, and Pulidoro the doing. And Rafael’s opre ensemble studying”.

Federico draws Taddeo in the Sistine Chapel, in front of the altar on the steps, where the papal throne is placed. he has the drawing tools with him while the ink bottle and the case with the pens are placed on the ground.
