Oramai il restauro a cantiere aperto sta diventando sempre di più una consuetudine per la gioia di chi ama vedere da vicino sia le opere in restauro che gli addetti ai lavori all’opera.

Così a Firenze, dopo il grande cantiere visitabile del restauro del Biancone, il cantiere a vista che ha coinvolto la mia Pietà Vaticana e il cantiere aperto tuttora accessibile della Cappella Brancacci, a breve verranno montati i ponteggi per un nuovo restauro che i visitatori potranno visitare.

Da poco è stato portato a termine il restauro delle otto pareti del Battistero di San Giovanni, ed è stato deciso di montare nel mese di ottobre ponteggi che partiranno dal centro della pavimentazione e arriveranno fino alla cupola che permetteranno di vedere a distanza ravvicinatissima i restauratori lavorare agli imponenti mosaici.

Si prevede che il cantiere rimarrà in essere diversi anni ma i visitatori avranno l’occasione più unica che rara di salire suo ponteggi per ammirare da vicino i restauratori all’opera e gli splendidi mosaici: 1.400 metri quadrati di tessere che sono stati restaurati per l’ultima volta dall’Opificio delle Pietre Dure fra la fine dell’Ottocento e l’inizio del Novecento.
