Questa notte all’interno della Basilica di San Nicola a Bari il santo di Myra è stato derubato. Il fatto è accaduto attorno alle quattro di notte e secondo i primi rilievi effettuati dalla polizia scientifica sarebbero scomparsi nel nulla tutti gli oggetti che San Nicola teneva in mano.

I ladri si sono introdotti nella basilica dopo aver divelto un’inferriata presente sul lato meno in vista della Basilica.

Non c’è più traccia del prezioso libro con le tre palle d’argento e della croce in argento con le gemme incastonate. Il Santo non ha più l’anello in oro tempestato di pietre e nemmeno collana reliquiaria oltre che al contenuto della cassetta delle offerte.

San Nicola di Bari, venerato da tutti gli ortodossi e dai fedeli russi, in queste ultime settimane era stato spesso pregato e invocato come simbolo di pace. Nella notte invece la teca all’interno della quale è custodito abitualmente, è stata profanata brutalmente.

“Aver sottratto i simboli più evocativi della vita e della missione del vescovo di Myra – evidenzia – significa aver ferito profondamente la città” ha affermato Antonio Decaro, sindaco di Bari.
