Il 18 febbraio 2026 Firenze apre gratuitamente le porte dei suoi musei civici per ricordare una delle figure più importanti della storia della città: Anna Maria Luisa de’ Medici, l’Elettrice Palatina. Un’occasione perfetta per visitare alcuni dei luoghi più suggestivi del capoluogo toscano senza pagare il biglietto e riscoprire il patrimonio lasciato in eredità dalla famiglia Medici.

Perché i musei civici sono gratis il 18 febbraio

Il 18 febbraio ricorre l’anniversario della morte di Anna Maria Luisa de’ Medici, ultima discendente della dinastia granducale. Alla sua lungimiranza si deve il celebre Patto di Famiglia, l’atto con cui le collezioni medicee furono vincolate allo Stato e alla città di Firenze.

Grazie a questa decisione, opere d’arte, biblioteche, gioielli e raccolte storiche non furono trasferiti altrove, ma rimasero in città, diventando parte integrante del patrimonio culturale fiorentino. Per celebrare questa figura, ogni anno i musei civici aprono gratuitamente al pubblico.

Mercoledì 18 febbraio l’ingresso sarà gratuito nei seguenti musei:

• Museo di Palazzo Vecchio – ore 9.00-19.00
• Torre di Arnolfo – ore 9.00-17.00
• Museo Novecento – ore 11.00-20.00
• Complesso di Santa Maria Novella – ore 9.00-17.30
• Cappella Brancacci – ore 10.00-17.00
• MAD Murate Art District – ore 14.30-19.30

Le biglietterie chiudono un’ora prima dell’orario indicato.

Evento speciale a Palazzo Vecchio: incontro con l’Elettrice Palatina

Oltre all’ingresso gratuito, è previsto un evento di living history nel Museo di Palazzo Vecchio. I visitatori potranno dialogare con l’Elettrice Palatina, impersonata da un’attrice, per conoscere la sua storia e il contesto del Patto di Famiglia.

On February 18, 2026, Florence will open its civic museums free of charge to commemorate one of the most important figures in the city’s history: Anna Maria Luisa de’ Medici, the Electress Palatine. Why civic museums are free on February 18th

February 18th marks the anniversary of the death of Anna Maria Luisa de’ Medici, the last descendant of the grand ducal dynasty. Her foresight was responsible for the famous Family Pact, the deed by which the Medici collections were bound to the State and the city of Florence.

Thanks to this decision, works of art, libraries, jewelry, and historical collections were not transferred elsewhere but remained in the city, becoming an integral part of Florence’s cultural heritage. To celebrate this figure, every year the civic museums open to the public free of charge.

Arnolfo Tower – 9:00 am–5:00 pm

Ticket offices close one hour before closing time.

Special event at Palazzo Vecchio: meeting with the Electress Palatine

In addition to free admission, a living history event will be held at the Palazzo Vecchio Museum. Visitors will be able to converse with the Electress Palatine, played by an actress, to learn about her history and the context of the Family Pact.
