Per celebrare il Giubileo 2025 e il 50° anniversario dalla sua fondazione, il Museo del Tessuto di Prato propone l’esposizione “Veste di Luce”.

Dal 19 giugno al 21 settembre 2025 la mostra presenterà una replica autentica del manto indossato da Giovanni Paolo II durante l’apertura della Porta Santa, un momento emblematico del Grande Giubileo del 2000. L’esposizione mira non solo a onorare il patrimonio culturale e religioso ma anche a rinnovare il legame tra la tradizione tessile di Prato e il mondo liturgico.

Il progetto del manto e delle vesti liturgiche è stato avviato nel 1999, unendo le forze di artigiani, designer e imprese tessili di Prato, oggi rappresentate da Confindustria Toscana Nord.

Questo straordinario lavoro artigianale ha comportato la progettazione e la realizzazione di oltre 16.000 metri di tessuto pregiato, culminando nella confezione di 4.000 vesti liturgiche.

L’atelier di arte sacra X Regio di Treviso ha avuto l’onore di occuparsi della progettazione e confezione delle vesti, portando un tocco autentico e tradizionale a questo progetto di grande significato.

La mostra verrà accompagnata da eventi collaterali, visite guidate e attività interattive che coinvolgeranno famiglie, scolaresche e appassionati della tessitura e dell’arte sacra.

Un’opportunità per esplorare il ricco patrimonio tessile locale e la sua influenza nel contesto religioso e culturale nazionale.

Veste di Luce: the Jubilee cloak of John Paul II on display at the Prato Textile Museum

To celebrate the Jubilee 2025 and the 50th anniversary of its foundation, the Prato Textile Museum is offering the exhibition “Veste di Luce”.

From 19 June to 21 September 2025, the exhibition will feature an authentic replica of the cloak worn by John Paul II during the opening of the Holy Door, an emblematic moment of the Great Jubilee of 2000. The exhibition aims not only to honour the cultural and religious heritage but also to renew the link between the textile tradition of Prato and the liturgical world.

The project of the cloak and liturgical vestments was launched in 1999, uniting the forces of artisans, designers and textile companies of Prato, today represented by Confindustria Toscana Nord.

This extraordinary artisanal work involved the design and production of over 16,000 meters of fine fabric, culminating in the creation of 4,000 liturgical vestments.

The X Regio atelier of sacred art in Treviso had the honor of designing and creating the vestments, bringing an authentic and traditional touch to this project of great significance.

The exhibition will be accompanied by collateral events, guided tours and interactive activities that will involve families, school groups and enthusiasts of weaving and sacred art. An opportunity to explore the rich local textile heritage and its influence in the national religious and cultural context.
