La scultura del giorno che vi propongo oggi è Amore trionfante dello scultore danese Bertel Thorvaldsen, realizzata tra il 1814 e il 1822.

L’artista scolpì Amore con un corpo da adolescente. La presenza delle ali gli diedero l’opportunità di mostrare il suo virtuosismo nel riuscire a dare l’idea delle piume leggere ed eteree attraverso l’uso delle gradine.

Thorvaldsen si immaginò Amore come una divinità vittoriosa, orgogliosa di mostrare il proprio trionfo sul destino dell’uomo.

Sul capo il dio sfoggia una corona di foglie e boccioli di rosa mentre mostra guarda compiaciuto la punta delle freccia tenuta con la mano destra.

Ai suoi piedi si vede l’elmo, simbolo della sua vittoria sulla guerra perché si sa, omnia vincit amor.

La scultura di Amore trionfante è esposta al Thorvaldsens Museum di Copenaghen, che raccoglie un gran numero di opere dell’artista neoclassico.

The sculpture of the day that I propose to you today is Love Triumphant by the Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen, created between 1814 and 1822.

The artist sculpted Love with the body of a teenager. The presence of wings gave him the opportunity to show his virtuosity in being able to give the idea of ​​light and ethereal feathers through the use of the scales.

Thorvaldsen imagined Love as a victorious deity, proud to show his triumph over the destiny of man.

On his head the god shows off a crown of leaves and rosebuds while he shows a pleased look at the tip of the arrow held in his right hand.

At his feet you can see the helmet, symbol of his victory over war because, as we know, omnia vincit amor.

The sculpture of Love Triumphant is exhibited at the Thorvaldsens Museum in Copenhagen, which collects a large number of works by the neoclassical artist.
