Il ritratto della Dama con Ventaglio dipinto da Gustav Klimt è stato battuto all’asta da Sotherby’s di Londra per la cifra record di 86 milioni di euro.

La cifra più alta che sia stata mai pagata per un’opera andata all’asta in Europa. Siamo infatti ben lontani dai 450 milioni di dollari pagati per il Savator Mundi attribuito con infiniti dubbi a Leonardo da Vinci, battuto all’asta dalla casa americana Christie’s nel 2017.

L’ultima opera di Klimt era stata proposta con un prezzo indicativo di 75milioni di euro ed è stata venduta dopo 10 minuti assai concitati.

Il dipinto fu iniziato dall’artista nel 1917 e si trovava ancora nel suo atelier quando Klimt morì nel febbraio del 1918, a soli 55 anni quando era al culmine della sua fama.

Il record precedente europeo era stato conquistato da Walking Man I della serie di sculture dedicate all’uomo che cammina di Alberto Giacometti, battuta sempre da Sotherby’s nel 2010 per 65 milioni di sterline, cioè 76 milioni di euro.

Klimt’s Lady with a Fan: the most expensive work ever sold in Europe

The portrait of the Lady with a Fan painted by Gustav Klimt was auctioned by Sotherby’s in London for the record amount of 86 million euros.

The highest amount ever paid for a work that went to auction in Europe. In fact, we are far from the 450 million dollars paid for the Savator Mundi attributed with infinite doubts to Leonardo da Vinci, auctioned off by the American house Christie’s in 2017.

Klimt’s latest work was offered with an indicative price of 75 million euros and was sold after 10 very excited minutes.

The painting was begun by the artist in 1917 and was still in his atelier when Klimt died in February 1918, aged just 55 when he was at the height of his fame.

The previous European record was set by Walking Man I from the series of sculptures dedicated to the walking man by Alberto Giacometti, also beaten by Sotherby’s in 2010 for 65 million pounds, i.e. 76 million euros.
