Il Bucintoro di Canaletto all’asta per un stima di circa 25milioni di euro
Il capolavoro del Canaletto del 1735 del ‘Ritorno del Bucintoro nel Giorno dell’Ascensione’, sarà l’opera di maggior pregio della prossima edizione dell’asta Old Masters di Christie’s a Londra, il 1° di Luglio.
Il dipinto, secondo le stime attuali, sarà battuto a una cifra superiore ai 25milioni di euro.
Dovete sapere che in 300 anni di storia, il dipinto del Bucintoro è finito per ben tre volte all’asta. La prima asta nota è del 1751 e la successiva risale al 1993. Il dipinto è in ottimo stato conservativo e nei prossimi giorni sverrà esposto al pubblico, prima di essere battuto all’asta a luglio.
Quest’opera con la veduta dal mare della Venezia dei Dogi, arrivò a Londra solo qualche anno dopo essere ultimata dall’artista. Già nel 1736 si trovava al numero 10 di Downing Street, assieme ad altri capolavori delle collezioni di Sir Robert Walpole che al tempo ricopriva il ruolo di primo ministro del Re.
Sempre il 1° luglio verranno battuti all’asta anche altre opere significative come il Ritratto di un Nobile di Tiziano, opere di Pieter Brueghel il Giovane e Willem Key.

Canaletto’s Bucintoro to be auctioned for an estimate of around 25 million euros
Canaletto’s 1735 masterpiece, ‘The Return of the Bucintoro on Ascension Day’, will be the most valuable work of the next edition of Christie’s Old Masters auction in London, on July 1st.
The painting, according to current estimates, will be sold for a figure in excess of 25 million euros. You should know that in 300 years of history, the Bucintoro painting has ended up at auction three times.
The first known auction was in 1751 and the next one dates back to 1993. The painting is in excellent condition and will be exhibited to the public in the next few days, before being auctioned in July.
This work by Canaletto with a view of the Venice of the Doges from the sea, arrived in London only a few years after being completed by the artist. It was already at number 10 Downing Street in 1736, along with other masterpieces from the collections of Sir Robert Walpole, who at the time was the King’s Prime Minister.
Other significant works will also be auctioned on July 1st, such as Titian’s Portrait of a Nobleman, works by Pieter Brueghel the Younger and Willem Key.
