Il Museo Egizio di Torino lancia una campagna di raccolta fondi per finanziare il riallestimento della Sala di Kha e Merit. L’obiettivo è quello di raggiungere 40mila euro entro ottobre. Il progetto coinvolgerà curatori, restauratori, architetti e designer del Museo.

Questa iniziativa mira a coinvolgere attivamente il pubblico nella vita del Museo, permettendo ai visitatori di scoprire le storie degli oggetti e di approfondire l’attività di ricerca e restauro. Christian Greco, direttore del Museo Egizio, ha sottolineato l’inestimabile valore archeologico e umano della tomba di Kha e Merit, esprimendo il desiderio di mantenerne viva la memoria e la storia attraverso il contributo collettivo.

L’investimento principale sarà destinato alla realizzazione di nuove vetrine su misura. Tra i reperti che richiederanno interventi specialistici ci sono gli imponenti sarcofagi lignei esterni di Kha e Merit, il cui restauro avverrà direttamente in sala, sotto gli occhi dei visitatori.

Un altro reperto emblematico della sala è il Libro dei Morti di Kha, un papiro di oltre 14 metri, già oggetto di un’indagine scientifica lo scorso anno in collaborazione con il CNR e il laboratorio mobile Molab.

Egyptian Museum: fundraising campaign for important restorations

The Egyptian Museum of Turin launches a fundraising campaign to finance the reorganization of the Hall of Kha and Merit. The goal is to reach 40 thousand euros by October. The project will involve curators, restorers, architects and designers of the Museum.

This initiative aims to actively involve the public in the life of the Museum, allowing visitors to discover the stories of the objects and to learn more about the research and restoration activity. Christian Greco, director of the Egyptian Museum, underlined the inestimable archaeological and human value of the tomb of Kha and Merit, expressing the desire to keep its memory and history alive through collective contribution.

The main investment will be earmarked for the creation of new custom-made display cases. Among the finds that will require specialist interventions are the imposing external wooden sarcophagi of Kha and Merit, whose restoration will take place directly in the hall, under the eyes of visitors.

Another emblematic find in the room is the Book of the Dead of Kha, a papyrus of over 14 meters, already the subject of a scientific investigation last year in collaboration with the CNR and the mobile laboratory Molab.
