Il Dipinto del giorno: l’Innocenza di Bouguereau
Il dipinto del giorno che voglio proporvi oggi è l’Innocenza di William-Adolphe Bouguereau, un’opera a olio su tela realizzata dall’artista nel 1893 e appartenete al National Museum of Western Art di Tokyo.
L’opera raffigura in modo assai simbolico l’innocenza attraverso l’immagine della giovane madre che tiene tra le braccia il suo bimbo e un agnellino.
Il bambino mostrando, un’espressione serena e tranquilla, sembra stia ascoltando quasi il battito del cuore della madre, appoggiando la sua manina sul petto di lei.
Bouguereau era un pittore realista, celebre per la sua abilità nel ritrarre figure umane con grande dovizia di particolari.
Attento all’armonia delle forme, i protagonisti delle sue opere così realistici ma al contempo immersi in atmosfere quasi oniriche, lo rendono unico nel suo genere.
William-Adolphe Bouguereau nacque a La Rochelle in Francia, il 30 novembre del 1825. Fin da giovane il suo talento prorompente lo portò a scegliere di studiare all’École des Beaux-Arts di Parigi, dove affinò la sua tecnica.
Vinse il prestigioso Prix de Rome nel 1850, che gli permise di studiare in Italia e di apprendere nozioni fondamentali dagli artisti del passato.
William-Adolphe Bouguereau in poco tempo divenne uno degli artisti più famosi e celebrati del suo tempo. Le sue opere vennero esposte regolarmente al Salon di Parigi, dove ricevettero grande plauso.
Grande sostenitore dell’arte accademica e si oppose alle nuove correnti artistiche come l’impressionismo.
Il dipinto dell’Innocenza fu venduto dallo stesso Bouguereau a Tooth & Sons il 1 giugno 1897 per confluire poi nella collezione di W. Marburg e Baltimora.
Dopo diverse vendite fu battuto all’asta da Christie’s a Londra il 20 novembre del 1959 e arrivò alla National Museum of Western Art di Tokyo.
