Il 9 ottobre 2024, a tre giorni dall’inaugurazione della mostra ‘Il Cinquecento a Ferrara’ curata da Sgarbi, i Carabinieri hanno sequestrato una copia seicentesca del dipinto dell’Ortolano ‘Compianto sul Cristo Morto’.

L’opera risulta di proprietà di Sgarbi.

Stando a quanto riportato dall’indagine condotta da Report e dal Fatto Quotidiano, il sequestro è avvenuto proprio all’interno di Palazzo dei Diamanti dove l’opera avrebbe fatto parte del percorso espositivo.

Come annunciato poi nel catalogo dell’esposizione, l’opera non è presente nella mostra ma prima dell’intervento dei Carabinieri, era ubicata nella sala 9.

Mentre il dipinto originale dell’Ortolano, realizzato tra il 1515 e il 1520, è custodito a Galleria Borghese, la copia in questione risultava rubata in un palazzo nobiliare e Bevagna in provincia di Perugia, dal 1984.

Apparteneva a Paganello Spetia.

Sgarbi, divenuto ex sottosegretario alla Cultura dopo le dimissioni rassegnate in seguito allo scandalo del Manetti, ha però mantenuto altri incarichi come quello di presidente della Ferrara Arte che risponde al Comune di Ferrara.

L’indagine condotta da il Fatto Quotidiano e da Report non è finita qua, anzi.

i giornalisti sono riusciti a rintracciare la presenza di un’altra opera rubata nella collezione privata di Sgarbi. Si tratta della scultura della “Madre con figlio” di Raffaello Consortini, scultore volterrano.

Addirittura l’opera fu rubata nel 1997 dalla tomba di un ventenne presente nella cappella della famiglia Nannipieri come ha riferito l’ex giudice della Corte d’Appello di Firenze in pensione Antonio Nannipieri, davanti alle telecamere.

La scultura è riapparsa nel 2022 al Mart di Rovereto nella mostra ‘Giotto e il Novecento’ e tutt’ora si può vedere nel catalogo dell’esposizione come prestito Cavallini-Sgarbi.

A proposito, anche il Mart è un altro museo pubblico presieduto da Sgarbi.

More trouble for Sgarbi: another work seized in Ferrara while a sculpture that was stolen reappeared in Rovereto

On October 9, 2024, three days after the inauguration of the exhibition ‘The Cinquecento in Ferrara’ curated by Sgarbi, the Carabinieri seized a seventeenth-century copy of the painting by Ortolano ‘Lamentation over the Dead Christ’.

The work is owned by Sgarbi.

According to the investigation conducted by Report and Fatto Quotidiano, the seizure took place inside Palazzo dei Diamanti where the work would have been part of the exhibition.

As announced later in the exhibition catalogue, the work is not present in the exhibition but before the intervention of the Carabinieri, it was located in room 9.

While the original painting of the Ortolano, made between 1515 and 1520, is kept in the Galleria Borghese, the copy in question was stolen from a noble palace in Bevagna in the province of Perugia, since 1984.

It belonged to Paganello Spetia.

Sgarbi, who became former undersecretary of Culture after resigning following the Manetti scandal, has however maintained other positions such as that of president of Ferrara Arte which answers to the Municipality of Ferrara.

the journalists managed to trace the presence of another stolen work in Sgarbi’s private collection. This is the sculpture of the “Mother with son” by Raffaello Consortini, a sculptor from Volterra.

The work was actually stolen in 1997 from the tomb of a twenty-year-old present in the chapel of the Nannipieri family, as reported by the former judge of the Court of Appeal of Florence, now retired, Antonio Nannipieri, in front of the cameras.

The sculpture reappeared in 2022 at the Mart in Rovereto in the exhibition ‘Giotto and the Twentieth Century’ and can still be seen in the exhibition catalog as a Cavallini-Sgarbi loan.

By the way, the Mart is also another public museum presided over by Sgarbi.
