La Visitazione del Pontormo: in arrivo alla Villa Medicea di Poggio a Caiano
Il magnifico dipinto a olio su tavola della Visitazione del Pontormo, realizzato dall’artista tra il 1528 e il 1530, verrà collocato temporaneamente nella Villa Medicea di Poggio a Caiano, in provincia di Prato.
A partire dal 10 settembre, l’opera sarà esposta nella villa medicea in attesa che venga restaurata la chiesa che da secoli la ospita: di San Michele Arcangelo in Carmignano (Prato) sotto la diocesi di Pistoia.
Questo è ciò che ha reso noto Riccardo Palandri, sindaco di Poggio a Caiano.
La Visitazione fu commissionata al Pontormo dalla famiglia fiorentina dei Pinadori che aveva dei possedimenti proprio a Carmignano.
Al centro della scena si vedono Maria ed Elisabetta che si stringono in un abbraccio. I loro volti esprimono un’emozione profonda e intensa in quel ritrovarsi entrambe gravide per dono divino. Gli sguardi si incrociano in un gioco di chiaroscuri, creando un’atmosfera quasi mistica.
Le figure dipinte dal Pontormo sono slanciate e le loro pose conferiscono all’opera un senso di inquietudine e di tensione palpabile.

La Visitazione è un esempio tipico del Manierismo fiorentino, caratterizzato da una ricerca della bellezza ideale attraverso la distorsione delle forme e l’uso di tonalità acccese.
Dunque la Visitazione tornerà visibile a partire dal 10 settembre nella Villa di Poggio a Caiano per il tempo necessario per terminare i lavori in corso presso la Chiesa di San Michele di Carmignano.

Pontormo’s Visitation: coming to the Medici Villa in Poggio a Caiano
The magnificent oil painting on wood of the Visitation by Pontormo, created by the artist between 1528 and 1530, will be temporarily placed in the Medici Villa in Poggio a Caiano, in the province of Prato.

Therefore, the Visitation will be visible again starting from September 10th in the Villa di Poggio a Caiano for the time necessary to finish the work in progress at the Church of San Michele di Carmignano.
